Following a number of enquiries regarding the abandonment of the Long Eaton United v Selby Town game on Saturday, the following statement is issued on behalf of the NCEL Management Board.

"Following the abandonment of the Northern Counties East Premier game between Long Eaton United and Selby Town on Saturday 23rd December 2006, the events leading to the abandonment are the subject of an official Football Association enquiry and the match officials have submitted their reports to The Football Association's Compliance Department.

"Upon conclusion of this enquiry and notification of judgements from the Compliance Department, the matter will then be dealt with by the League Management Board.

"In relation to the reverse fixture between the same clubs that is scheduled to be played on Saturday 30th December, it is confirmed that after discussion between The Football Association and The Northern Counties East League that this game will be played as normal with a 4th Match Official being appointed with representation from both the FA and the NCE being present.

"Both clubs are fully aware of their responsibilities and have been informed of the above measures.

"This concludes this statement and there will be no further comment."
