NCEL Midweek Review

14th December, 2006

Parkgate claimed the final spot in the last four of the Presidents Cup by causing an upset in the Quarter-Finals on Tuesday night.

The Division One leaders destroyed Premier Division outfit Liversedge 5-0 at Green Lane to set up a semi-final home tie with Selby Town.

Richard Haigh and Adam Fretwell from the penalty spot gave them a two goal cushion by the interval.

And, they continued to dominate after the break with strikes from David Taylor, Caine Cheetham and Paul Clayton.

The performance was certainly a warning shot to the rest of the Premier Division should Parkgate get promoted for next season.

Meanwhile, there was one league game played in midweek and Selby Town grabbed a late winner to claim a 2-1 home victory over Sutton Town and move up into fifth in the Premier Division.

Carl Westcarr had put the visitors ahead after twelve minutes but Christian Fox levelled matters soon after.

It looked like the spoils would be shared until Andy Hart grabbed a vital goal two minutes from time for the Robins.
