NCEL Weekend Preview

1st December, 2006

Shirebrook Town face a massive afternoon as the Premier Division's bottom side travel to the team just above them, Brodsworth Welfare.

Graham Charlesworth's men know that defeat would leave them at least six points adrift from the rest of the division.

Both sides go into the game looking for a change of fortune with each having a six-match losing streak whilst Welfare have failed to win in fourteen games.

Meanwhile, there is a big game at the top of the table as third-placed Selby Town host second-placed Sheffield as both look to take advantage of a day of rest for leaders Maltby Main.

The visitors could go top with victory on the road but Selby will close the gap between themselves and Main to just two points with four games in hand if they win.

Fourth-placed Retford United will be looking to keep in touch at home to struggling Thackley whilst the side just behind them, Carlton Town, go to mid-table Glapwell.

The other two sides in the top seven, Pickering Town and Mickleover Sports, travel to Hallam and host Sutton Town, respectively.

Armthorpe Welfare will aim to get out of the bottom four with a home win over Eccleshill United whilst Glasshoughton Welfare host Arnold Town and Long Eaton United go to Garforth Town.

As in the Premier Division, the bottom two sides go face to face in Division One as basement outfit Rossington Main entertain Borrowash Victoria.

But, it's tight down there with only three points separating the bottom five teams.

Yorkshire Amateur will try to put some distance between themselves and the two sides below them at home to Hall Road Rangers.

AFC Emley aim for the same thing at Tadcaster Albion whilst Teversal will look to upset their visitors, third-placed Nostell Miners Welfare.

Leaders Winterton Rangers are at home to mid-table Worsbrough Bridge whilst their nearest rivals, Parkgate, travel to Dinnington Town.

Fifth-placed Staveley Miners Welfare go to Pontefract Collieries who are in tenth.

But the most intriguing game is at the Riverside Ground where Gedling Town, in fourth, play host to the side two places below them, South Normanton Athletic, as two sides who have improved greatly this season come head-to-head.

And, there is one County Cup match as Lincoln Moorlands travel to Central Midlands side Grimsby Borough in the Lincs Senior Cup.
