NCEL Weekend Preview

27th October, 2006

There is a full programme for the second weekend running in the NCEL Premier Division.

The top three and bottom three sides are all at home desperate to make that advantage pay for different reasons.

Leaders Maltby Main host Mickleover Sports who are tenth whilst the side one point behind them, Selby Town, welcome Retford United to the Flaxley Road Ground.

Retford, who are sixth, will be looking for the win to close the gap on the top three with games in hand over most of those above them.

Meanwhile, game of the day in the Premier Division is at the Coach & Horses Ground where third-placed Sheffield are at home to the team just behind them on goal difference, Liversedge.

At the foot of the table, bottom side Shirebrook Town will be looking for a change of fortune as they host mid-table local rivals Glapwell.

19th-placed Thackley, who are three points ahead of Shirebrook, are at home to Glasshoughton Welfare who are also looking to kick-start their season.

And 18th plays 17th at the Welfare Ground where Brodsworth Welfare will be looking for their first win in twelve games as they entertain Armthorpe Welfare.

Elsewhere, there is an all-top ten clash at Eccleshill United who host Hallam whilst Sutton Town entertain Garforth Town at the Fieldings.

Arnold Town travel to Carlton Town and Pickering Town are at Long Eaton United.

There is no doubt, meanwhile, what is the most attractive game in Division One.

The top two sides meet at the Roundwood Sports Complex where leaders Parkgate host Nostell Miners Welfare.

Both teams are on 21 points but Parkgate have three games in hand on their visitors.

One side looking to gain ground is fourth-placed Winterton Rangers who are at home to mid-table Hall Road Rangers.

Fifth-placed Gedling go to struggling Rossington Main whilst Moorlands, who are one spot below them, are also on their travels but have, on paper, a tougher tie at Tadcaster Albion who are in seventh.

There is a local derby at Carnarvon Street where Teversal host South Normanton Athletic whilst Staveley Miners Welfare go to Dinnington Town and Borrowash Victoria are at Pontefract Collieries.
