NCEL Saturday Preview

13th October, 2006

There is a big local derby in the Premier Division as Sheffield host Hallam at the Coach and Horses Ground.

It's second against sixth as both sides hope to continue their recent run of good form.

Sheffield are unbeaten in four, Hallam in three.

Current leaders Maltby Main will be hoping to maintain their place at the top of the table as they go to Long Eaton United.

But, their hosts, despite being twelfth, are only seven points behind Main in what is proving to be a tight division so far.

Third-placed Pickering Town have, on paper, the easiest match of the top sides as they go to basement outfit, Thackley.

However, Thackley will be determined to end a losing streak of five games to reverse their fortunes.

Retford United, who start the day in fifth, are at home to Armthorpe Welfare whilst their North Nottinghamshire rivals, Sutton Town, host Liversedge.

There is a massive game already down at the foot of the table as nineteenth-placed Shirebrook Town welcome the side two places above them, Glasshoughton Welfare, to Langwith Road.

Graham Charlesworth's team know defeat would put them seven points behind their opponents and could see them cut adrift from the rest of the division.

Glapwell travel to Brodsworth Welfare and Selby Town are at home to Garforth Town to complete the Premier Division schedule.

Division One's match of the day pits third against second at Park Road.

Worsbrough Bridge host Nostell Miners Welfare who continue to have an impressive start to their season.

Both will be hoping that Parkgate's run of six consecutive wins comes to an end - the table-toppers will be looking to extend it at home to Lincoln Moorlands.

Meanwhile, the only side with a one-hundred percent record, fourth-placed Winterton Rangers, host Rossington Main.

Bottom side Yorkshire Amateur go to Pontefract Collieries boosted by two wins in the last seven days whilst the side just above them, AFC Emley, entertain sixth-placed Staveley Miners Welfare.

The final three games see Dinnington Town at home to Hall Road Rangers, South Normanton Athletic travel to Tadcaster Albion and Teversal entertain Gedling Town.

There are also two Derbyshire Senior Cup games as NCEL sides go to Central Midlands teams without floodlights.

Mickleover Sports go to Bolsover Town and Borrowash Victoria are at Pinxton with both sides firm favourites to progress.
