Floodlight Boost For Rangers
29th January, 2009
Winterton Rangers have been given funding to improve their floodlights at West Street.
The cash is coming from the Football Stadia Improvement Fund which is the largest funder of non-league football in the country having handed out ?90m since its inception in 2002.
Paul Thorogood, Chief Executive of the Football Stadia Improvement Fund and Football Foundation, said: "On behalf of the Football Stadia Improvement Fund I am delighted to be able to award this grant to Winterton Rangers
"A vibrant community team is vital for the future of football. The Football Stadia Improvement Fund's aim is to revolutionise funding for the grass roots in the same way the professional game has been transformed over the last ten years.
"I pay a particular tribute to the hard work and dedication all at the club for making this funding a reality."
Rangers will use the money to replace their old, failing floodlights with a modern energy efficient system that will enable them to progress up the National League System.
Chairman David Crowder said: "On behalf of everyone associated with Winter ton Rangers, I would like to express our thanks to the FSIF and their national and regional advisers for all the help and support given to us in our 'Goals' to make our proud rural voluntary-managed grassroots football club a special club to be part of and a comfortable and friendly ground to visit.
"The new floodlights are another step in our development plans, and a further tribute to the hard work and dedication of everyone at 'Team Winterton'.
"We would also take this opportunity to say thank you to the numerous businesses who have helped us in differing ways develop our ground and football structures. Your loyalty and support is invaluable and greatly appreciated."
