Hallam Bolster Squad With New Quartet
29th June, 2008
Hallam's attempt to lift the Premier Division title has been boosted by the capture of four players.
Three midfielders, Richard Patterson, Darren Holmes and Thomas Kotylo, come from Parkgate, Sheffield and local football, respectively.
And, the Sandygate outfit have also signed centre-half Matt Griffin who was at Division One champions, Dinnington Town.
Boss Darren Bland said: "I am delighted to have signed these four players as all of them were on our wanted list which is very satisfying.
"I thought we might get a couple of them, but to get all four is a real bonus and will definitely make us a stronger unit for this season.
"Richard has proved to be a thorn in my side every time I've been involved with a side that he has played against.
"He's hard working, loves a tackle and knows where the back of the net is. He will be a huge asset to us this season.
"Richard was a big part of Parkgate's success over the last few seasons winning the Division One title and the Wilkinson Sword Trophy in 2006/07 before helping them to the League Cup Final last season.
"Darren Holmes will bring a wealth of experience with him. He is a skilful hard-working player who also has an eye for a goal or two.
"I've admired Holmesy for some time and am so excited he has decided to come to Hallam.
"Darren's previous clubs include Sheffield, Buxton, Gainsborough Trinity and Alfreton Town.
"He also has Football League experience with Darlington and Sheffield Wednesday for whom he played in the European Cup.
"Tom Kotylo is a big strong fit lad who hasn't played at this level before, but I'm sure he will make his presence quickly felt and I know he is looking forward to the challenge.
"Finally, Matt Griffin is a big, no-nonsense centre half - the kind of lad you would want in the trenches with you!
"He will add a massive presence to us and, for a big lad, he can play a bit too."
