Staveley Captain Injury Blow
17th February, 2009
Staveley Miners Welfare's captain looks set to sit out the rest of the season.
Goalkeeper Martin Kearney is out of action for six weeks following a stress fracture in his foot, says the club's website.
It's described as a "sickening blow" as "Martin's ability, confidence and organisational skills have been a massive part of the team's huge improvement since Darren Bland came to the club and signed Martin in November and his presence will be a major loss in the remaining fifteen league games of the season."
The statement continues: "With so many games at all levels over the next two months, a replacement keeper is being sought and the club hope to make an announcement as soon as possible."
