Manager Appointed At Glasshoughton
30th October, 2008
Phil Riding has been appointed as the new manager of the first team at KoolSport NCEL bottom side, Glasshoughton Welfare.
Forty-four year old Phil has filled the Caretaker position twice this season when previous managers, Dave Holmes and Wayne Day resigned.
He was pleased to step aside for the more experienced Day two months ago but has reconsidered his position during his most recent experience and put forward a strong case to make his position a permanent one.
The full Committee had no hesitation in offering him the post following a formal interview earlier this evening.
This is Phil's first experience as a Manager at this level but has shown great technical ability, passion, man-management skills and a determination to succeed during his last six games at the helm.
He was formerly Manager of the Under 19 side and coach to the Reserve team at the Club and will promote the case of many of the club's academy players as well as attracting more quality senior players to Leeds Road.
There were a number of outstanding applicants for the vacancy but the Club has decided to put its faith in Phil to lift the side off the bottom of the table.
Glasshoughton play second bottom, Tadcaster Albion, in their next two league games in successive Saturdays.
