Hemsworth Preparations Continue
16th July, 2008
Hemsworth Miners Welfare are busy assembling their squad ahead of their first ever KoolSport NCEL season.
The club has already signed Neil Towler, Wayne Harratt, Dean Foley and Gareth Lewins along with several promising youngsters including Lee Swift and Steven Cox.
A club spokesman said: "Neil Towler, a forward who played at Frickley Athletic last season, has bags of talent and pace. He's a natural forward who is looking forward to leading the line.
"Wayne Harratt played for Bridlington Town last season along with a short spell at Frickley Athletic. He can play midfield or up front.
"Dean Foley has also played at Frickley Athletic along with Pontefract Collieries and will be a quality addition to the squad.
"Gareth Lewins can play anywhere across the midfield. He was released from Halifax Town but, at 23 years old, his best years are still to come.
"And, Steven Cox and Lee Swift are both promising youngsters who are bound to improve under the leadership of joint managers Paul Crapper and Andy Cracknell.
"And, with all of last season's squad re-signing, Hemsworth now feel ready for the challenge of the NCEL.
"Ex-pro Dean Barrick is the only member of last season's squad who will not be with the club this term as he has accepted a coaching job in Poland.
"The club thanks Dean for his services and would welcome him back with open arms if things don't work out for him in Poland."
