Five sides progressed in the FA Vase and the 30,000th Premier Division goal was scored in another momentous weekend for the KoolSport Northern Counties East League.

Arnold Town enjoyed the biggest win in the Second Round of the FA Vase as they beat visitors Pilkington XXX, 4-0.

Craig Mitchell bagged a brace before David Wilkins and Sam Holden made sure of the victory in the last twelve minutes.

Pickering Town won 2-0 at fellow NCEL side Brodsworth Welfare, courtesy of a tenth-minute strike from Liam Salt and a second early after the interval by Wayne Aziz.

A Jared Holmes double set Long Eaton United on their way with a 3-0 victory at Darlaston Town, Lee Sutton grabbed the third on 81 minutes to make it a happy journey from the West Midlands.

The other two sides through required extra-time to do it with Winterton Rangers winning 3-1 at home to Ashington.

David Watson and Andy Holt scored for Rangers in the further half-hour after Gareth Bainbridge had cancelled out their opener from Danny Clarke.

And, Scarborough Athletic continue to fly the flag for Division One as they overcame Sunderland Nissan 3-2 at Queensgate.

Richard Medcalf had given the Seadogs a third-minute lead before Neil Tarrant and Richard Hodgson had put the away side ahead just after the hour mark.

But, Medcalf forced extra-time and Craig Hogg grabbed the winner in the 95th minute of a pulsating encounter in front of 664 which must be a candidate for highest crowd of the round.

Nostell Miners Welfare will host Ryton in a replay on Tuesday night after they claimed a 2-2 draw with goals from Dave Nicholas and Matthew Denton.

But, Bridlington Town and Thackley are out of the competition losing at home 0-2 to Penrith and 0-1 to Shildon, respectively.

In the league, Mickleover Sports stretched their lead at the top of the Premier Division to five points and also created a bit of history with their 2-1 win at home to Shirebrook Town.

Chris Rhodes had put the away side ahead on 11 minutes before Dave Middleditch equalised with the 30,000th NCEL Premier Division goal just after the half-hour.

Karl Ashton then grabbed their winner midway through the second period to condemn Shirebrook, who remain eighteenth, to their tenth league defeat of the season.

Third-placed Selby moved to within two points of the side just above them, Pickering, as they won 7-2 at bottom side Eccleshill United.

Lee Holmes grabbed two whilst Brenton Leister, Steve Lyon, Sean Gorman, Scott Pickles and Christian Fox all found the net for the visitors.

Paul Baker and James Gorman found the net for the hosts whose afternoon was made worse when Baker suffered a horrific leg break.

Play was stopped for nearly half-an-hour as paramedics were called to treat him.

Eccleshill remain bottom on goal difference from Lincoln Moorlands Railway who were also defeated, 3-2 at Parkgate.

But, it was a late second of the afternoon from Mark Caine that denied them a point after Simon Clifford and Simon Mowbray had pulled the visitors back from 2-0 down.

Dinington Town are up to sixth after a 2-2 draw at the side just above them, Liversedge, Samir Boulchssor earning them the point with an 85th-minute equaliser.

Scott Bates, Billy Rowley and James Tevendale scored for Hallam as they won 3-1 at home to Armthorpe Welfare after Henry Sibenge had put the visitors ahead.

And, Maltby Main and Hall Road Rangers shared the spoils with a 1-1 draw at Muglet Lane.

With Division One leaders Scarborough in FA Vase action, the six sides below them took advantage and all won their games.

It means that just four points separates the top five sides in what looks set to be a tense chase for promotion.

Pontefract Collieries move up to second, a point behind Scarborough after their 4-1 win at bottom side, Glasshoughton Welfare.

Adam White opened the scoring before Craig Rouse and Michael Long gave them a three-goal cushion.

Former Ponte player Paul Nodder pulled one back on 87 but Rouse grabbed his second soon after to quell any hopes of a spectacular home comeback.

The Colls are now just ahead on goal difference of third-placed AFC Emley, who won 1-0 at home to Yorkshire Amateur with a second-half goal from Daniel Clapham.

Mel Cotton struck with seven minutes to go to keep fourth-placed Askern Welfare in the hunt with a single-goal win over visitors, Staveley Miners Welfare.

And, Barton Town Old Boys remain fifth after they won 2-1 at home to Worsbrough Bridge Athletic.

Ryan Hibbard grabbed what turned out to be the winner on 50 minutes after Stuart Ainsley had levelled the scores following a Warren Jackson opener for Athletic.

Hemsworth Miners Welfare stay three points behind Barton with a 3-1 victory at Tadcaster Albion with all four goals coming in the opening 31 minutes.

Graham Phillips, Scott Collins and Lee Mulroe made it a quickfire start for the visitors before Ryan Watson claimed the consolation.

A Julian McDonald brace helped Rainworth Miners Welfare to a 5-1 win at home to Rossington Main to keep Rudy Funk's side in with an outside chance in seventh.

Brighouse Town were the biggest movers, climbing up three places to twelfth with a 3-2 home victory over Bottesford Town.

Jason Tiplady scored the winner after the hosts had let a two-goal lead slip.

And, Appleby Frodingham were 2-1 victors over Teversal with the home side claiming the points with just two minutes to go, thanks to Matthew Robinson.
