New Fun Run for Staveley
5th January, 2015
Staveley Miners Welfare have confirmed that their first ever 5k Fun Run will take place on the final day of the Toolstation NCEL season.
Final arrangements will be announced over the forthcoming weeks, when the plans will be authorised and released for public review.
This inaugural fun run will include a route in and around the club's Inkersall Road ground and their Juniors' Chantry Park as well as surrounding trails and parks.
The club are hoping to have around 250 runners this year and then keep increasing the numbers over the next five years so that, by 2020, there will be an established 10k Fun Run that will benefit the whole of Staveley and the surrounding area.
This year's race will coincide with the club's final Premier Division home game of the season against Cleethorpes Town and a request has been made to the league for the match to be free entry so that those who take part in the fun run, as well as their family and friends, can come and watch the game.
A club spokesperson said: "This will be a great chance to promote our club as a truly recognised Community Club that exists for the benefit and welfare of the Staveley area and surrounding community.
"Now let's see of we can get to our first target of 250 runners."
