Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2014/15 #63
29th March, 2015
Cleethorpes Town were unable to close the gap on Toolstation NCEL Premier Division leaders Worksop Town to four points as they were held to a 1-1 home draw by Thackley on Saturday.
They failed to take full advantage of a free weekend for the Tigers as they fell behind to a Mike Garrod strike on 74 minutes before Louis Grant ensured the spoils were shared soon after.
Shaw Lane Aquaforce climbed up into third as they won another of their games in hand over Worksop, 3-1 at next-to-bottom Retford United, Chris White's double sandwiching a Lee Morris goal in the first period with Craig Laight getting one back for the hosts just after the hour mark.
It means Aquaforce are now eight points off the top with four more matches to play than the current top side.
Two goals from Scott Phillips helped Barton Town Old Boys to a 4-0 home victory over Albion Sports and they move up into fifth above Bridlington Town who went down 5-1 at Heanor Town who are now seventh, Kieran Debrouwer netting a hat-trick for the Lions whilst Nathan Benger got the other two.
Kieron Wells scored three times in as many minutes in Handsworth Parramore's 4-1 win at Liversedge, a defeat that sees the home side fall into the bottom three, replacing Nostell Miners Welfare who won 1-0 at Parkgate, James Kitson with the first-half strike.
Maltby Main scored twice late on to win 2-0 at Armthorpe Welfare and there was a 1-0 home victory for Athersley Recreation over Staveley Miners Welfare.
There is now a five point gap between the top two in Division One and the chasing pack after victories for Pontefract Collieries and AFC Emley.
Pontefract beat title challengers Clipstone at home, 2-1, Aaron Moxam getting both of their goals whilst Robert Paling converted a penalty for the visitors.
Emley stay second on goal difference after Sam Jerome's header claimed a 1-0 victory at Dronfield Town.
Clipstone fall to fourth with Shirebrook Town moving into third spot after their 0-0 draw at Hall Road Rangers and fifth-placed Hemsworth Miners Welfare also lost a little ground as they played out the other goalless game at Penistone Church.
Louth Town are up to sixth after their 7-0 win at Lincoln Moorlands Railway with Jamie Coulson and Steve Norton grabbing two each for the White Wolves.
Moorlands remain next-to-bottom, five points away from safety, in an afternoon which saw losses for all four of the sides battling to avoid relegation.
Basement side Grimsby Borough were beaten 4-0 at Eccleshill United, Marcus Edwards with a hat-trick for the Eagles, whilst Teversal went down 1-0 at Selby Town to remain as the side just above the dreaded dotted line, two points behind Dronfield.
Elsewhere, there were home wins for AFC Mansfield, Rossington Main and Worsbrough Bridge Athletic who were 4-1 victors over Knaresborough Town, 2-1 winners over Bottesford Town and 2-0 victors over Hallam, respectively.
