Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2014/15 #41

8th January, 2015

The race for the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division title has got tighter after leaders Tadcaster Albion were beaten by one of their championship chasing rivals.

Lee Morris scored the only goal for the game for hosts Shaw Lane Aquaforce, his 64th minute strike lifting his side up into second spot, seven points behind the Brewers but with three games in hand.

Cleethorpes Town also kept their title challenge going with a 3-0 victory at Handsworth Parramore to move into third place, a further point away from the top.

Brody Robertson struck twice for the Owls whilst Jonathan Oglesby also got on the scoresheet for the visitors.

Division One leaders AFC Emley missed out on a chance to go six points clear as they drew 1-1 at Selby Town, Alex Hallam's 25th minute goal cancelling out Jamie Forrester's opener for the home side.

Two of the chasing pack, Hemsworth Miners Welfare and Pontefract Collieries, both took advantage with wins and they are now five and six points away from the summit, respectively, in third and fourth position.

Nicholas Guest and Harry Viggars put Hemsworth two goals up in the opening seven minutes at Eccleshill United and, although the hosts pulled one back late on through Marcus Edwards, they picked up a vital victory.

Meanwhile, five goals from Aaron Moxam helped Pontefract Collieries to a 12-2 home win over Lincoln Moorlands Railway with the home side eight goals up by the interval.

Two goals in three minutes around the hour mark saw Glasshoughton Welfare through to the Fourth Round of the League Cup, Liam Hurst and Arran Horton netting in their 2-1 victory at home to Bridlington Town.

And, a Bradley McKay brace helped Division One side Winterton Rangers to a 3-1 win at Premier Division outfit Barton Town Old Boys in the Third Round of the Lincolnshire Senior Trophy in a match that had been switched to Winterton's ground.

There were two matches called off due to waterlogged pitches - the Premier League clash between Liversedge and Staveley Miners Welfare as well as Worsbrough Bridge Athletic's trip to Dronfield Town in Division One.
