Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2014/15 #10

11th September, 2014

Selby Town are through to the Second Round of Qualifying in this season's FA Vase after winning their replay at home to Stockport Sports in midweek.

Jamie Forrester put the Robins ahead on 27 minutes before the visitors levelled at the start of the second period but Alex Horsman and Dan Bunch netted in quick succession with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining to book a home tie against Bacup & Rossendale Borough next month.

There were hat-tricks for Ant Lynam and Kieron Scargill in the First Round of the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup.

Lynam struck for Hallam in a 4-1 win at Harworth Colliery Institute whilst Scargill made sure of Athersley Recreation's progress in a thrilling 6-3 extra-time victory at home to fellow NCEL side Shaw Lane Aquaforce.

The remaining League Cup First Round tie was resolved with Sam O'Malley's 76th minute winner seeing Shirebrook Town through by beating hosts Winterton Rangers, 2-1.

And, five of the six Second Round ties were played with away wins for Eccleshill United, Bottesford Town and Garforth Town.

Doug Stevenson struck twice in Eccleshill's 5-3 win at AFC Emley, there were two each for Danny Boulton and Jack Cross for Bottesford in their 5-1 victory at Grimsby Borough and braces for Jason Davis and Nick Black helped Garforth to beat Heanor Town by the same scoreline.

Tadcaster Albion progressed to the Third Round by defeating visitors Knaresborough Town, 2-0, and Cleethorpes Town join them in the draw after Brody Roberston's two goals set them on their way to a 3-2 victory at home to Penistone Church.

In the Premier Division, Handsworth Parramore top the table after their 4-1 victory at Albion Sports with second-half goals from Callum Ward and Nicky Travis securing the win for the Amber Parras.

And, Armthorpe Welfare are off the bottom after Darren Mansaram's 51st minute strike was cancelled out in the 70th minute by Ashley Allanson for visitors Bridlington Town in a 1-1 draw.
