Norman named as new Hemsworth chairman
10th March, 2017
Toolstation NCEL Premier Division club Hemsworth Miners Welfare have announced that Richard Norman has become their new chairman.
Norman, who has previously been joint chairman at former NCEL side Goole AFC, told Non League Yorkshire that he was "honoured and very happy" to accept the role.
He said: "I am especially excited about working with such a transparent and helpful team of people, who all share the same vision and values. The present board and team of volunteers have done an absolutely fantastic job, of developing a village football team into a successful community football club.
"I am looking forward to helping the board achieve their long term goals of financial stability, developing the facilities and creating a full community programme, whilst also trying to take the club into the Evo-Stik League.
"It's also really positive that our local council understand the huge sporting, economic and health benefits that a successful community football club can bring to an area.
"Because the local council have fully backed the club, by providing a secure long term lease, this enables the club to develop the community facilities and increase the necessary revenue towards financial security.
"My role will be to support the board and hard-working volunteers, to develop and implement a full marketing strategy to increase revenues. Some of these marketing activities will include corporate partnerships, together with further sponsorship and hospitality opportunities.
"I will also be looking to work with all the local youth and ladies teams, charities and schools to form a full community programme. This will help ensure that the next generation can enjoy all the benefits of the club and our facilities.
"Finally, I will be supporting our passionate, successful and experienced manager Wayne Benn, to help sign the players to try to help us win cups and gain promotion to the Evo-Stik League.
"These goals will take some time, but I can assure all our fans, that I will work tirelessly to ensure that they are all achieved."
