Grimes is new Rangers boss
24th February, 2017
Winterton Rangers have announced that Paul Grimes will be taking over as player-manager following the departure of Lee Hastings on Wednesday.
Rob Watson will remain as assistant boss, working alongside Grimes in a role he is not too unfamiliar with having worked under him recently at Brigg Town.
Joining the management team will be Mark McDonagh as coach, a fan's favourite who is making his return to the Toolstation NCEL Division One side.
A statement from the club said: "The board have every confidence that Paul is the right man to continue and build on the great work Lee Hastings started and to take Rangers to the next level.
"Ex-Grantham Town striker Paul takes charge for the first time on Saturday when we travel away to Shirebrook Town followed by back-to-back home games next week against Eccleshill United and Selby Town."
Hastings left the club earlier this week due to personal reasons, finishing his spell in charge on a high with a 1-0 win at Brigg that moved Rangers up to tenth in the table.
The club said following his departure: "Lee is a true gentleman of the game who has done an incredible job whilst at the helm to which we thank him and will always be eternally grateful for.
"On behalf of everyone involved at the club we wish him all the very best for the future."
