Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2016/17 #38
15th December, 2016
Toolstation NCEL Premier Division tabletoppers Cleethorpes Town have extended their advantage at the summit to ten points whilst AFC Emley claimed the last League Cup Fourth Round spot in midweek.
Cleethorpes twice took the lead at Staveley Miners Welfare in the opening twenty minutes through Jack Richardson and Luke Mascall but on both occasions they were quickly pegged back by goals from Kurtis Morley.
However, the Owls took control with Andrew Taylor putting them 3-2 up in first half stoppage time before a second half brace from Brody Robertson and an Alexander Flett strike ensured a 6-2 victory for the visitors, their sixth win in a row.
Pickering Town have moved up into third spot following their 5-0 home defeat of Harrogate Railway Athletic, Billy Logan's 40th minute opener added to in the second period by an Eddy Birch brace whilst Ryan Blott and George Bissett also got on the scoresheet.
Fog delayed the start of the second half of Albion Sports' home game with Bottesford Town by forty minutes but the game was finished and the hosts prevailed 5-3 to lift the Lions into sixth place.
And, Clipstone found themselves 2-0 down at home to neighbours AFC Mansfield towards the end of the first half through Matthew Plummer and a Jason White penalty but they rallied in the second period as George Milner and Richard Patterson struck to share the spoils in a 2-2 draw.
Meanwhile, Emley caused an upset in the League Cup as the Division One leaders beat Premier Division visitors Worksop Town by a single goal, Joe Brennan's 63rd minute penalty proving to be enough to book a trip to Selby Town in the last sixteen.
