Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2016/17 #24

27th October, 2016

Thackley moved up to second in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division, one point behind leaders Cleethorpes Town, with a 2-1 home win over Handsworth Parramore in midweek.

In one of five games played in the division, they went behind to a seventeenth minute opener from Jon Froggatt but Craig Bentham and then a Daniel Clayton penalty, both in the second half, sealed the win for the Dennyfield side.

Bridlington Town made it seven league victories in a row and are now fourth after they defeated Maltby Main, 6-3, Brett Agnew with four of their goals whilst Joel Sutton and Andrew Norfolk also got on the scoresheet whilst Ryan Carroll, Joshua Schofield and Oliver Lawrence netted for the visitors.

Oliver Fearon's double helped AFC Mansfield to a 4-1 win at bottom three side Barton Town Old Boys to lift the Bulls to eighth, ahead of Worksop Town who are now ninth following their 2-1 defeat of basement outfit Parkgate, Adam Scott with the winner eight minutes from time.

And, Hemsworth Miners Welfare are up to tenth with a 4-0 victory at Albion Sports, Bill Law with a hat-trick.

There was a full programme in Division One with Penistone Church still heading the pack with their 3-0 win at home to Westella & Willerby, Daniel Joynes opening the scoring before a Matthew Lucid own goal doubled their advantage and a Daniel Howes strike claimed a third.

Christopher Jackson's hat-trick secured a 3-0 home victory for Pontefract Collieries over Glasshoughton Welfare so they are second, a point off the top.

Three sides - Hallam, Knaresborough Town and Grimsby Borough - are a further point behind after wins of their own and complete the top five.

Tom Roebuck got both of Hallam's goals in a 2-0 victory at Teversal, Colin Heath got the only goal of the game for Knaresborough at Rossington Main and Jack Debnam's hat-trick, his third an 85th minute winner, saw Borough defeat visitors Winterton Rangers, 3-2.

Campion climb to sixth after an Eli Hey brace and a goal from Joshua Cooke saw them beat Yorkshire Amateur, 3-0, at home.

Callum Ward struck four times as Selby Town won 7-4 at Brigg Town and the Robins are now eighth, one place above AFC Emley who defeated visitors Ollerton Town 2-0 with goals from Samuel Jerome and Ashley Flynn.

Hall Road Rangers are up to tenth after Christopher Spinks netted twice in their 2-0 home victory over Worsbrough Bridge Athletic whilst Shirebrook Town and Nostell Miners Welfare were the only other two winners in the bottom half of the table.

Shirebrook came from behind to win 2-1 at Dronfield Town, Liam Osborne and Kalum O'Kane with the goals, whist bottom side Nostell Miners Welfare claimed their first home league victory of the season, Connor Prestley with a hat-trick in their 3-0 triumph over Eccleshill United.

Meanwhile, Clipstone became the latest side to reach the Fourth Round of the League Cup with a 4-2 extra-time victory at Liversedge, George Milner and Joshua Nodder with the goals that sent them through after it had finished 2-2 after ninety minutes.
