Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2016/17 #12

15th September, 2016

Cleethorpes Town remain top of the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division after a 3-1 home win over Bridlington Town in midweek.

They had temporarily lost their position at the summit on Tuesday night when Liversedge won 3-0 at home to Harrogate Railway Athletic, Vaughan Redford and Harrison Blakey netting in the first half before the third was added soon after the interval by Brandon Kane.

But, Cleethorpes returned to first spot on Wednesday after Caine Winfarrah and Jonathan Oglesby had them two goals up by the 66th minute, Joel Sutton pulled one back for the Seasiders but Luke Mascall made sure of the points for the Owls.

Albion Sports are third after they came from 3-2 down to beat bottom placed visitors Armthorpe Welfare, 4-3, Karl Hall and James Firth scoring in the last seventeen minutes to deny the away side their first points of the season.

A hat-trick from Jon Froggatt helped Handsworth Parramore to a 7-1 home victory over Athersley Recreation and they are fourth, ahead of fifth placed Bottesford Town whose early goal from Joshua Nichol earned them a 1-0 home win over Staveley Miners Welfare.

Thackley and Hemsworth Miners Welfare complete the top seven after wins of their own, Thackley beating hosts Garforth Town, 2-1, with Ryan Farrell and George Eustance getting on the scoresheet.

And, Hemsworth won 3-2 at home to Worksop Town, Rogan Green with an 84th minute winner after the visitors had come from two goals down with a quick double from Adam Scott.

There were two goals for Oliver Fearon as AFC Mansfield won 3-1 at Retford United and Joshua Schofield grabbed a brace as Maltby Main beat hosts Parkgate by the same scoreline.

Clipstone were comfortable 3-0 victors over Barton Town Old Boys with Nathan Forbes, Joshua Nodder and Michael Trench scoring for the home side.

Winterton Rangers head the Division One table following their 6-1 defeat of visitors Teversal, Matthew Crane and Rob Northen getting two each whilst Carl Giblin and James Houghton also got on the scoresheet.

They are above Hallam, who did not play, and Hall Road Rangers, who drew 2-2 at Knaresborough Town with a double each for Colin Heath for the hosts and Joe Cooper for Rangers, on goal difference.

Pontefract Collieries are a point behind in fourth spot after their 8-0 home pummelling of Shirebrook Town, Michael Dunn getting four of their goals whilst Christopher Wood struck twice, and Kieran Hirst and Mark Whitehouse also added to scoreline.

There was a 4-0 home win for Yorkshire Amateur over Rossington Main, Adam Shaw with a hat-trick, Ashley Flynn scored two of AFC Emley's goals in their 3-2 victory at Westella & Willerby and a Renzie Lobendhan double helped Grimsby Borough beat visitors Selby Town, 4-1.

Ollerton Town remain at the foot of the table after a 2-0 loss at Brigg Town and Dronfield Town are eighth following their 5-0 home victory over Worsbrough Bridge Athletic.

Meanwhile, Glasshoughton Welfare are the first team through to the Fourth Round of the League Cup with a 3-1 home win over Nostell Miners Welfare.

Callum Harrison, Ryan Poskitt and Nathan Keightley had them in full control by half-time before Franck Zalo grabbed a consolation for the visitors early in the second period.
