14th August, 2016
There were goals galore in the Toolstation NCEL with 89 scored in the twenty matches that took place on Friday and Saturday over the weekend.
The action began with Worksop Town starting their Premier Division campaign with a victory as quickfire first-half goals from Kyle Jordan and Richard Adams secured them a 2-0 win at Pickering Town on Friday night.
Saturday saw promoted sides Hemsworth Miners Welfare and AFC Mansfield make it six points from their opening two matches in the top flight.
Nash Connolly's brace, sandwiching a Del Pollock strike, saw Hemsworth win 3-0 at home to Garforth Town with all three goals coming in the opening twenty minutes.
Lynton Karkach's winner for AFC Mansfield came in stoppage time as they beat hosts Harrogate Railway Athletic, 2-1, after keeper Jason White's penalty on 63 minutes cancelled out Stephen Bromley's opener for the hosts.
Liversedge got off the mark with a 5-0 home win over Armthorpe Welfare, Vaughan Redford, Rhys Davies, Joe Walton, Tom Jackson and Stephen Wales with the goals whilst Bottesford Town and Handsworth Parramore also struck five times on their home turf.
Daniel Boulton netted twice for Bottesford as they defeated Barton Town Old Boys, 5-1, and it was the same scoreline for Parramore who beat visitors Staveley Miners Welfare with Thomas Dugdale grabbing a hat-trick.
The game of the day, though, was between two Nottinghamshire sides as Retford United and Rainworth Miners Welfare played out a ten-goal thriller with Rainworth taking the points from the Jones & Co Stadium.
The visitors led 2-0 at half-time through an Aaron Moxam double before Retford surged into a 4-2 lead through a Chris Funnell brace and goals from Charlie Sykes and Jermaine Gordon.
The match, though, turned on its head once more as a Matthew Sykes hat-trick and a goal from Liam Morris saw the Wrens ultimately victorious, winning 6-4.
There was also a hat-trick for Kai Hancock as Athersley Recreation won 3-1 at Maltby Main, Clipstone defeated visitors Parkgate, 3-1, and there was a 2-1 home win for Cleethorpes Town at the expense of Thackley.
Life in the NCEL has started well for Campion who head Division One on six points after their 3-0 victory at Selby Town, Steven Hollingworth and Eli Hey putting them in control in the first five minutes before Hey grabbed his second after the interval.
Alongside them with two wins out of two are Eccleshill United and Hall Road Rangers after both enjoyed 3-2 victories.
Luke Harrop struck twice for Eccleshill as they beat visitors Grimsby Borough whilst two from Scott Phillips helped Rangers to a win at Winterton Rangers.
Hallam were the day's biggest winners in Division One as a Jack Hargreaves double helped them to a 5-1 victory at Dronfield Town whilst there were away triumphs for four more clubs.
A Lucas Middleton own-goal in stoppage time saw Penistone Church grab a 2-1 win at Nostell Miners Welfare and Michael Dunn got Pontefract Collieries' goals as they beat hosts Ollerton Town by the same scoreline.
Matt Graves and Nathan Peat struck in the last ten minutes to earn Brigg Town a 3-2 victory at Westella & Willerby whilst there was a 3-1 success for Yorkshire Amateur at Shirebrook Town.
The day's other games saw Glasshoughton Welfare triumph 3-2 at home over Rossington Main and there was a 2-2 draw between Knaresborough Town and Worsbrough Bridge Athletic with both sides scoring in injury time at Manse Lane.
