Hemsworth on search for new chairman
2nd November, 2026
Macron NCEL Division One side Hemsworth Miners Welfare are inviting applications from those interested in becoming the club's chairman after Chris Harrower stepped down from the role.
In a statement, the club said: "[Chris'] decision has not been made for any negative reason, but due to other commitments which mean he feels he cannot give the role the time and attention it deserves.
"With the best interests of the club and our supporters at heart, he feels it is only right to step aside rather than give anything less than 100%.
"The club would like to place on record our sincere thanks for everything he has done for the Wells.
"His contribution, particularly in getting Pitch Two ready and helping the club meet the requirements for promotion, cannot be understated.
"He has been one of, if not the, driving forces behind that achievement, and his efforts have played a huge part in helping the club move forward.
"Football clubs are built on the dedication of people who are willing to go above and beyond behind the scenes, and his commitment to the Wells has been a huge part of our jourey in recent seasons.
"Although he may be stepping down as chairman, we have no doubt he will still be there supporting the lads on the sidelines.
"We are looking for someone to take on the role of club chairman as we look to continue building on the progress made both on and off the pitch.
"This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about grassroots football to play a leading role in the future of The Wells.
"We're looking for someone with enthusiasm, commitment and a desire to help drive the club forward. Previous experience in a similar role would be beneficial.
"If you think you could be the person to lead the Wells into its next chapter or would like to find out more about the role, we'd love to hear from you.
"Please get in touch with the club directly to register your interest or find out more by email at hmwfc_1981@hotmail.com."
