Bottesford Town, Brigg Town and Retford FC are into the hat for the Second Round draw in the Isuzu FA Vase after victories at the weekend.Bottesford overcame a tight goalless game at Blyth Town to win their First Round tie on penalties, 3-2 in a shootout that was as closely contested as the previous ninety minutes.
Brigg are the sole Macron NCEL Division One side left in the competition as they beat league rivals
Selby Town 3-2 at the EC Surfacing Stadium.
Harry Clapham had given the visiting Robins a fourth-minute lead, but Reece York, Dayle Southwell and Henry Parr scored to give Brigg a 3-1 advantage before Nathaniel Muenda made it a nail-biting finale with a late second for Selby.
And, Retford FC won 4-1 at
Worsbrough Bridge Athletic in another all-NCEL tie, Iren Wilson’s double added to by Krzysztof Jarosz and Bernard Nsiah Yaa whilst Ousmane Sidibe got an 82nd-minute consolation for the Briggers.
But, it was disappointment elsewhere as
Field Olympic and
Albion Sports bowed out on penalties on their travels.
Kieron Batey and Omar Habeeb scored for Olympic in a 2-2 draw at Atherton Laburnum Rovers but were beaten 5-4 on spot kicks.
And, the Lions played out a goalless draw at Thornton Cleveleys before also losing 5-4 in the shoot-out.
Parkgate went down 3-0 at home to Burscough whilst, despite a goal from Ross Hannah,
Rossington Main were beaten 2-1 by visitors Durham United.
Meanwhile, there were 5-1 away losses for
Pickering Town and
Handsworth.
Michael Coulson’s penalty was the sole moment of delight for the Pikes as they were defeated at Holker Old Boys and Tyler Williams got the tie’s opening goal for the Ambers at Shildon.
And, in Sunday’s match,
Retford United were beaten 2-0 at Northwich Victoria.
In league action,
Dearne & District’s lead at the top of the Premier Division is now four points following their 3-2 home win over
Golcar United.
Four goals were shared between the sides in the opening eighteen minutes as Jamie Austin and Justin Circuit netted for the hosts in between an opener from Ashley Flynn and an equaliser from Voldi Mbaya for Golcar.
Austin grabbed his second and his side’s third for a narrow victory that puts more daylight between Dearne and second-placed Bottesford.
Barton Town and
Campion were both 1-0 home victors to climb up into the top five.
Danny Earl got an 86th minute winner for the Swans over
Knaresborough Town and they are now fourth, a place above Campion who beat basement side
Keighley Town with a Ben Grech-Brooksbank strike midway through the second half.
And,
Penistone Church are up to thirteenth after their 3-0 win over visitors
Tadcaster Albion, Carlton Pownall’s first-half opener added to after the interval by Trent Coulter and Jordan Coduri.
Third-placed
Wombwell Town have closed the gap between themselves and the summit to two points as they edged a 3-2 victory at
LIV.
Alhassane Keita netted twice to add to an early Edward Agnew strike whilst Ryan Whincup got both of the home side’s goals.
Lucas Stephens, Reece Thompson and Hamza Hamdosh were the scorers as
Route One Rovers’ 3-2 win at
Winterton Rangers sees them up into fourth.
Lewis Walker found the net twice for Rangers who stay ninth in the table.
Wakefield AFC complete the top five after Joshua Lockwood and Harley Blankley ensured them a 2-1 home win over
Harrogate Railway Athletic in Friday night’s match.
Armthorpe Welfare tiptoe a little closer to the play-off zone as they recovered from an early setback to take a point at home to
Crowle Colts.
Joel Simpson had given the visitors a third-minute lead but Alfie Charlotte secured a 1-1 draw with his equaliser at the same point in the second period.
Bottom side
South Leeds picked up their first victory of the season as Kieran Haigh and James Law scored to beat visitors
Appleby Frodingham 2-1.
But, they remain seven points from safety as the side just outside the drop zone,
Hemsworth Miners Welfare, also won 2-1 thanks to a Bismark Osei brace.
Their visitors
Immingham Town remain in the bottom two but there is now a five-point gap between themselves and Hemsworth.
Ilkley Town’s 4-0 home victory over
Kinsley Boys moves them to six points clear of the relegation places, a win that came courtesy of a goal each for Auzair Khan, Tawheed Ahmed, Luke Baldwin and Dan Clark-Coates.
And, Harry Holland’s 83rd-minute decider gave
Athersley Recreation a 2-1 win at
Leeds UFCA and they are now thirteenth in the table.
