Four more Macron NCEL sides have made it through to the Third Round of this season’s JCP Construction League Cup in memory of James Hitchcock following victories in midweek.

Barton Town, Horbury Town, Selby Town and Frickley Athletic are into the hat for the last sixteen, joining Goole AFC, Knaresborough Town and Rossington Main who progressed earlier this month from their Second Round ties.

Barton sneaked through after Albie Collier struck in injury time with his second of the evening to grab a 2-2 draw at Armthorpe Welfare.

Earlier, Collier had cancelled out a William Mendonca opener before Cole Patrick restored the hosts’ lead and seemingly secured the tie in the 62nd minute.

But, the Swans forced a penalty shoot-out with their late equaliser and then went through 8-7 on spot kicks.

Frickley were another side to progress on penalties after their game at Keighley Town ended in a 1-1 draw.

Liam Flanagan put them ahead in the 39th minute only for Harry Parsons to level for the hosts as time was running out.

But, it was Athletic who ultimately prevailed as they edged a dramatic shoot-out 8-7.

Joe Jagger struck twice as Horbury Town were 3-1 home winners over Handsworth after Luke Playford had opened the scoring with Alfie Dodsworth getting a 68th-minute consolation for the Ambers.

And, Joseph Rawcliffe scored the only goal over the game as Selby Town won 1-0 at home to Hemsworth Miners Welfare.

In the Premier Division, Golcar United have climbed to twelfth after their victory by the same scoreline over visitors Albion Sports, Voldi Mbaya with the decider in the 77th minute.

Meanwhile, it was a point apiece in Division One as hosts Route One Rovers played out a 2-2 draw with Club Thorne Colliery.

The away side led twice through Scott Hutchinson and Jordan Buckham, only for Bubacary Conteh Samateh to level on both occasions with all four goals coming in the opening half.

In the Second Round of the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup, Worsbrough Bridge Athletic drew 1-1 at home to Stocksbridge Park Steels before knocking out their higher-ranked visitors on penalties.

Connor Glavin broke the deadlock for the Briggers but the visitors forced an epic shoot-out that the hosts won 10-9.

Rossington Main were 2-0 winners at Denaby Main, Oliver Currie and Alexander Phillipson with the goals, whilst Penistone Church defeated their NCEL rivals and hosts Parkgate 3-0.

Nathan Keightley struck twice before Kieran Ryan made sure of the victory as the game went into stoppage time.

Dearne & District, however, were beaten 4-1 at home by Hallam, Jamie Austin’s penalty the only thing to cheer for the Premier Division leaders on the night.

And, Athersley Recreation’s home clash with Silkstone United was abandoned after 40 minutes due to floodlight failure with the match goalless.
