Nine Macron NCEL sides have made their way through to the First Round Proper of this season’s Isuzu FA Vase after victories over the weekend.

Three Second Round Qualifying ties were played on Friday night with Worsbrough Bridge Athletic prevailing 1-0 at home to Wakefield AFC in an all-NCEL tie.

Harrison Marvin’s early goal settled the hard-fought encounter that was a repeat of last season’s Division One Play-Off Final that also saw the Briggers victorious.

Joshua Nodder and Callum Rudd brought Parkgate back level after they conceded twice in the opening ten minutes at Barnton.

The tie went to penalties following a 2-2 draw and it was the Steelmen who went through, beating their hosts 7-6 on spot kicks.

And, Souleymane Coulibaly struck twice as Pickering Town won 3-2 at home to Grangetown Boys Club with Marshall Nock getting the Pikes’ other goal.

In Saturday’s three all-NCEL ties, Brigg Town, Field Olympic and Bottesford Town saw off league rivals.

Charles Flemming and Joshua Batty gave Brigg the perfect start at home to Dearne & District in the opening ten minutes but Jamie Austin and Adam Baskerville restored parity by the half-hour mark.

Flemming added to his tally midway through the second to give the current Division One leaders a 3-2 victory over last season’s champions.

Curtis Peters struck twice as Olympic defeated visitors Leeds UFCA 4-2 with Kieron Batey and Junayd Cassius-Gill also getting on the scoresheet for them whilst Harrison Rowley and Loren Matuku netted for the visitors.

Bottesford, meanwhile, cantered to a 4-0 win at Golcar United, Samuel Aynsley’s opener added to by a brace from Henry Moore and Jack McMenemy wrapped up the scoring.

Handsworth and Selby Town progressed at the expense of former NCEL clubs with Mitchell Dunne and Jordan Hines netting late on as the former won 2-0 at Dronfield Town.

Harry Clapham’s hat-trick helped Selby to a 4-2 home win over Swallownest with Lleyton Brown rubber-stamping the victory in the 71st minute.

Retford FC are also in the hat for the next round as they overcame Uppermill 3-2 with goals from Nicolantonio Degirolamo, Krzysztof Jarosz and Iren Wilson.

But, Athersley Recreation and Route One Rovers bowed out following penalty shoot-outs, the Rec drawing 2-2 at Ashville with goals from Nathaneal Dyer and Spencer Todd before being beaten 5-4 on spot kicks.

And, Umar Ali Zahoor had earned Rovers a 1-1 home draw with Horden Community Welfare but they went down 4-3 on penalties.

Knaresborough Town and Club Thorne Colliery were beaten 3-1 at home to Bishop Auckland and at Maghull, respectively.

Tadcaster Albion lost 4-0 at Carlisle City whilst it was a even more of an afternoon to forget for Frickley Athletic as they were defeated 9-0 at FC St Helens.

The weekend’s FA Vase action ended with Campion’s 3-0 loss at home to Boldon Community Association on Sunday afternoon.

Their hopes of progression virtually vanished when they were reduced to nine men by the hour mark after Sonny Whittingham and then Ben Bodle were sent off for each receiving a second yellow card.

The first tie in the Second Round of this season’s JCP Construction NCEL Cup in memory of James Hitchcock was played on Saturday with Goole AFC powering through to the next stage with a 7-2 home victory over Immingham Town.

Ross Duggan scored five to take his tally to nineteen this season whilst Haydn Ward and Declan Racher also got on the scoresheet for the Vikings and Declan McLaughlin got both of the visitors’ goals.

In the Premier Division, Retford United climb to fourth, leapfrogging visitors Barton Town after coming from 3-0 down to beat the Swans 4-3.

Jacob Carter and Lewis Chambers both struck twice for the Badgers whilst the away goals came from Thomas Waudby, Joe Wood and Danny Earl.

The game was hastily arranged after United’s Notts Senior Cup tie was cancelled with their opponents Newark and Sherwood United pulling out of the competition.

The top flight’s other game this weekend ended in a 5-0 home victory for Horbury Town over basement side Keighley Town.

Jake Roberts struck twice for the hosts with Joe Jagger, Emmisa Nzondo and Joseph Clegg also finding the net for a win that moves Horbury up to tenth.

In Division One, Wombwell Town picked up three points on their travels to consolidate fourth spot, Oliver Fearon, Nash Connolly and Alhassane Keita scoring in a 3-0 victory at Harrogate Railway Athletic.

Doncaster City are up to fifth after they withstood a late fightback from visitors Ilkley Town to win 4-3.

Dan Clark-Coates had put the away side ahead on five minutes, but Doncaster led 3-1 at the break with goals from Dominic Mellor, Calum Ward and Oliver Bowes.

A Ward penalty further extended their advantage, but Ilkley struck twice in the last ten minutes through Lewis Gartland and Adam Hartley to make it a nail-biting finale.

Late goals from Victory Ojei and Taylor Adams rescued a point for LIV to keep them in ninth after Jack White and Harry Kitching had scored for Kinsley Boys in a game that finished 2-2 at Haworth Park.

Crowle Colts have jumped out of the bottom three after their 4-1 home win over Hemsworth Miners Welfare with Alfie Jackson grabbing a couple of goals for their much-needed victory.

And, goals in the last ten minutes from Rhys Smaller and Oliver Nicholson, the latter from the penalty spot, secured Winterton Rangers a 3-1 win at home to Armthorpe Welfare that sees them up into tenth.
