Bottesford Town’s perfect start to the Macron NCEL Premier Division season continued on Saturday as a 4-0 win at Retford FC made it five victories out of five for the Poachers.

Jack Varley’s first-half opener was added to by a hat-trick for Owen Vincent in the second period as Bottesford regained top spot that they had lost temporarily on Friday night.

Worsbrough Bridge Athletic had briefly taken pole position after their 5-0 home win over Tadcaster Albion.

Charlie Austerfield got them off to a flying start as they took a third-minute lead before a second-half four-goal salvo from Lance Friedrich, Lewis O’Connor and twice from Lloyd Smith, secured a comfortable victory.

The Briggers end the weekend in third with the other promoted side Dearne & District moving back up into second spot to make it an excellent start to the campaign for the two teams who came up from Division One in the summer.

Jamie Austin struck the only goal of the game as Dearne defeated visitors Albion Sports, making it five victories out of their opening six matches at their new level.

Barton Town and Knaresborough Town were both winners and now complete the top five.

Andrew Norfolk and Danny Earl netted for the Swans as Barton were 2-0 victors at home to Frickley Athletic.

And, Knaresborough snatched a 4-3 win over visitors Golcar United, thanks to an injury-time decider from Alex Ingham after it had looked as though the spoils were shared with George Doyle netting twice for the away side.

Penistone Church and Retford United drop to sixth and seventh, respectively, after they played out a 1-1 draw at the Memorial Ground.

Jacob Carter had given the visiting Badgers an eighteenth-minute lead, but Jack Cawthorn ensured it was a point apiece with his equaliser midway through the second half.

Parkgate and Pickering Town picked up big wins to give themselves a bit of breathing space away from the bottom two.

Harry Day got both of the Steelmen’s goals in a 2-1 victory at Campion whilst Souleymane Coulibaly’s hat-trick helped the Pikes to a 4-0 home win over basement side Keighley Town.

Lucas Smith’s 54th-minute equaliser secured a point for Horbury Town in a 1-1 draw at Rossington Main after Myron Gibbons had given the hosts a first-half lead.

And, there was late drama at Dennyfield as hosts Thackley struck twice in stoppage time to grab a last-gasp draw over Handsworth.

Luke Mangham had seemingly given the Ambers the win as he made it 3-1 in the 80th minute but Luke Brooks’ penalty gave the hosts hope before Marcel Stephiewski popped up to earn the next-to-bottom Dennyboys a much-needed point.

Brigg Town’s seventh successive win has kept them top of Division One but their run of clean sheets came to an end at Club Thorne Colliery.

Marc Newsham became the first to score against the Zebras in six games when he put the hosts in front in the 25th minute.

The match was level at 2-2 at half-time, but Brigg surged on in the second period with goals from Reece York, Joshua Batty and Archie Davidson for a 5-2 win.

Field Olympic and Goole AFC both struck six times to keep themselves in second and third, respectively.

There was a goal apiece for Michael O’Brien, Jonathan Mwembie, Aidan Day, Joseph Colley, Kieran Suddards and Kieron Batey as Olympic won without reply at home to Crowle Colts.

And, Ross Duggan struck twice for the Vikings as they defeat visitors South Leeds 6-1 with Callum Brooks, Taylor Nicholson and Igor Mlynarski also on the scoresheet alongside an own goal for each team.

A hat-trick for Joseph Rawcliffe helped Selby Town to a 4-0 win at Immingham Town that lifts the Robins up to fourth.

Leeds UFCA and Doncaster City now complete the top six, both leapfrogging Armthorpe Welfare who were beaten 3-1 by the former.

Edward Tordoff’s early opener for UFCA was cancelled out in the 85th minute by Finley Harding but that only spurred the hosts into action as Kalaab Daniel and Dawud Shendi struck to claim the points.

Doncaster, meanwhile, beat visitors Winterton Rangers 2-1 as Samuel Giles and Danny South found the net before an injury-time consolation from Oliver Hakner.

There were two goals each for Matthias Britton and Luke Baldwin as Ilkley Town picked up their first victory of the season by defeating visitors LIV 5-2.

Appleby Frodingham also got their win column up-and-running as Joshua Fraiwald’s 86th-minute decider meant a 2-1 defeat of hosts Wombwell Town.

Alex Burton struck twice in Harrogate Railway Athletic’s 3-2 home win over Kinsley Boys whilst a quickfire double after the hour mark from Nathaneal Dyer and Nathan Perks saw Athersley Recreation prevail 2-1 at home to Wakefield AFC.

And, Hemsworth Miners Welfare played out a 1-1 draw with visitors Route One Rovers, Umar Ali Zahoor putting the away side ahead before Oliver Busfield restored parity in the 66th minute.
