First Round Qualifying in this season’s Isuzu FA Vase took place at the weekend and there was joy for twelve Macron NCEL sides who have made their way into the next stage in four weeks’ time.Five of our teams went through at the expense of league rivals, including
Field Olympic who were 3-1 home victors over
Keighley Town.
Aidan Day gave the Division One hosts the lead around the half-hour mark before a quickfire double midway through the second period from Junayd Cassius-Gill and Ellis Wade ensured an upset against their Premier Division visitors.
Malachi Bailey pulled one back for Keighley but Olympic go through, joined by
Dearne & District who progressed with a 2-0 win at
Hemsworth Miners Welfare thanks to goals from Owen Fieldsend and Justin Circuit.
Samuel Whitfield’s injury-time strike edged
Club Thorne Colliery through as they produced an upset to win 2-1 at
Horbury Town, Marc Newsham’s opener cancelled out for the hosts by Joe Jagger before the late drama.
Leeds UFCA looked to be going out at home to
Ilkley Town as the visitors held on to a 2-0 lead, given to them by Auzair Khan and Dan Clark-Coates, until the 81st minute.
But, Omar Sanyang struck twice, one of them from the penalty spot, to take the game into a shoot-out that the hosts won 6-5.
And,
Golcar United won 4-1 at
Wombwell Town, Ashley Flynn and Hayden Webster putting them 2-0 up before Josh Brown halved the deficit but George Doyle and Oliver Morrison ensured the victory in the last twenty minutes.
Jake Squires, Keelan Grist, Jake Holdsworth and Harrison Marvin were the scorers for
Worsbrough Bridge Athletic as they went through with a 4-2 win at Flixton.
Knaresborough Town defeated visitors Park View AFC 3-0, courtesy of Alex Ingham and Slater Barkham-Barnes before an own goal rubber-stamped their progression.
A double from Souleymane Coulibaly helped
Pickering Town to a 3-1 home win over Alnwick Town, sandwiching a Wayne Brooksby strike as the Pikes prevailed.
Bradley Hexhall snatched a last-gasp equaliser for
Retford FC in their home clash with Euxton Villa and they took full advantage, going through 6-5 on spot kicks.
It was identical success on penalties for
Route One Rovers who came through following a highly entertaining 3-3 draw at home with AFC Blackpool, Bubacary Conteh Samateh with a couple of their goals.
Selby Town also made it through to Second Round Qualifying as Maximillian Bauer pounced at the start of the second half to seal a 1-0 home win over Bacup Borough.
And, in Sunday’s tie,
Campion made it through comfortably with a second-half Ewan Gregson double adding to an opener before the break from Shay Muirhead in a 3-0 home win over Prudhoe Youth Club.
Crowle Colts, however, were the first team knocked out as they were beaten 2-0 at Sheffield on Friday night.
Appleby Frodingham went out 4-3 on penalties after their 1-1 home draw with Charnock Richard whilst
Armthorpe Welfare were beaten 4-0 by Trafford and, despite a Danny Earl brace,
Barton Town also lost at home, 3-2 to Runcorn Town.
Harrogate Railway Athletic,
Thackley and
Winterton Rangers also could not make home advantage count as they were beaten 1-0 by Grangetown Boys Club, 1-0 by Yarm & Eaglescliffe and 2-1 by Darwen, respectively.
And,
Penistone Church’s FA Vase race ended at the first hurdle as they were defeated 2-1 at Stockport Georgians.
Two matches took place on Saturday in the Premier Division and a 1-0 win at
Retford United has seen
Bottesford Town return to the top of the table, thanks to Jaime Ture’s 88th-minute decider.
And, it was honours even at the Young Guns Arena, hosts
Tadcaster Albion opening the scoring through Harry Croft before
Frickley Athletic grabbed a point with an injury-time equaliser.
Brigg Town are the new leaders of Division One, their 2-0 victory at home to
Doncaster City following early goals from Dayle Southwell and Dayle Hutson making it four wins out of five for the Zebras.
Wakefield AFC were 1-0 victors at
Kinsley Boys, James Eyles netting on the half-hour to take his side’s points tally to nine from their opening five games.
And,
Immingham Town twice came from behind at home to
South Leeds before securing a 4-2 win.
Kieran Haigh and Colin Pawlak saw their goals cancelled out by Joshua Tasker and Declan McLaughlin before Corby Kavanagh and Charlie Dixon ensured the points stayed at the Woodland Sports Ground.
