Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2022/23 #22

20th October, 2022

Albion Sports are the last team to book their place in the Third Round of this season's Toolstation NCEL League Cup after they won 4-1 at Goole AFC in midweek.

Zak Khan netted twice and Jahro Parchment grabbed the Lions' third before Luke Williams pulled one back for the hosts and Hass Gorji concluded the scoring, with all the goals coming in the second half.

Winterton Rangers move up to eighth in the Premier Division after a 2-1 victory at Thackley who drop to tenth.

Samuel Aynsley and Jaime Ture got on the scoresheet in the opening twenty minutes before Thomas Greaves halved the deficit towards the start of the second period.

Brigg Town and Glasshoughton Welfare stay seventh and nineteenth in Division One, respectively, after a 3-3 draw at the EC Surfacing Stadium.

Matthew Semley opened the scoring for Welfare early in the game but James Petronzio levelled on seventeen minutes before Adam Walsh restored the visitors' lead just before the interval.

Scott Phillips and Dayle Hutson gave Brigg a 3-2 lead with ten minutes to go but Walsh grabbed his second in stoppage time to ensure a share of the spoils.

Meanwhile, Retford FC's home game with Shirebrook Town was abandoned after 75 minutes due to floodlight failure with the score at 1-1 and will now be played in November.

The remaining four midweek games were County Cup ties with Parkgate and Worsbrough Bridge Athletic progressing from the First Round of the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup.

James Hardeman got both of Parkgate's goals in a 2-0 win at fellow Division One side Athersley Recreation whilst Dempsey Smith and Conner Brunt netted for the Briggers as they beat Hepworth United 2-1.

Joe Simpson scored the only goal of the game as Bottesford Town defeated visitors Barton Town in an all-NCEL Premier Division First Round tie in the Lincolnshire Senior Trophy.

And, despite goals from Bradley Walker and Joseph Navier, Knaresborough Town were knocked out 4-2 by visitors Ossett United in their West Riding County Cup First Round clash.
