Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2022/23 #9

1st September, 2022

After a free weekend, the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division returned to action in midweek with North Ferriby maintaining their place at the top of the table.

A narrow 1-0 victory at Maltby Main secured the Villagers their fourth win in four matches played, substitute Danny Buttle with the vital strike eleven minutes from time.

Ferriby returned to the summit having been dislodged for 24 hours by Eccleshill United who drew 2-2 at home with Handsworth on Tuesday night.

Andrew Cooper twice put the Eagles ahead, the first from the penalty spot, only for them to be pegged back by Samuel Smith and then Sam Finlaw for the visiting Ambers.

There were two goals for Josh Walker as Winterton Rangers won 3-1 at home to Silsden AFC to climb up into second spot.

Paul Grimes had given them a fourteenth minute lead whilst Lamin Janne Gitteh netted for the away side who drop to tenth.

Barton Town are fourth following a 1-1 home draw with Garforth Town, Harrison Coley levelling for the Swans early in the second period after an early opener for the visitors from Charlie Marshall.

Penistone Church missed out on a chance to stay level on points with Ferriby as they went down 4-2 at Frickley Athletic, Keelan Grist with a couple of goals for the hosts.

Alex Varley and Lee Bennett added to the home side's tally, with Leon Hurles-Brook and Kieran Ryan netting for Church.

A hat-trick from Slater Barkham-Barnes secured a 3-1 win for Golcar United at Hallam whilst Emley AFC also scored three on their travels.

Joe Jagger, Joseph Kenny and Irywah Gooden converted for the Pewits in a 3-2 victory at Albion Sports who are still searching for their first win of the season.

Bottesford Town came from behind with goals in the last twelve minutes from Hashlee Cranidge and Clayton Bryant to win 2-1 at Knaresborough Town.

And, there was a goalless draw at the Victoria Pleasure Grounds between Goole AFC and Thackley.

Meanwhile, in the one Division One match that was played in midweek, Jack Haslam got the only goal of the game as his 18th minute strike settled the tie in visitors Swallownest's favour at Beverley Town.
