The 2022/23 Isuzu FA Vase campaign began at the weekend with ten Toolstation NCEL sides joining the sixteen who have byes to the Second Round Qualifying stage.The biggest victors were
Eccleshill United who thrashed visitors Willington 9-1 with hat-tricks for Devonte Newman-Morton and Takuo Jitsukawa whilst Daniel Lowe, Kelvin Bleau and Benni Bodle also got on the scoresheet for the Eagles.
And, there was a hat-trick for Lamin Janneh Giteh as
Silsden AFC won 5-0 at home to Garstang with Alexander Stewart and Aralee Mohammed adding to the tally.
But, the best individual scoring performance of the weekend came from
Rossington Main's Adam Baskerville who claimed four in his side's 6-0 defeat of visitors
Parkgate.
Henry Tyers and Jordan Buckham also netted for Main in one of the three all-NCEL ties.
Hosts
Nostell Miners Welfare prevailed 3-1 over
Dronfield Town, Nathan Hawkhead's penalty added to by Joe Wood and Liam Owen whilst Daniel Wood scored a consolation for the away side.
And, there were goals for Samuel Smith, Anthony Mackie and Alexander King as
Handsworth won 3-0 at home to Premier Division rivals
Goole AFC.
Frickley Athletic were the only NCEL side to win on their travels as an Alhassane Keita brace, along with late strikes from Matthew Hughes and Richard Collier, saw them go through 4-2 at Chadderton.
There were home wins for
Brigg Town and
Thackley with Stephen McCarron, Kevan Kahoussi and Scott Phillips ensuring Brigg's progession at the expense of Runcorn Town.
Ryan Basi and Thomas Greaves, meanwhile, ensured a place in Second Round Qualifying for Thackley in a 2-0 victory over Boldon CA.
There was a 3-2 home victory for
Hallam on Sunday afternoon as a second-half opener from Steven Woolley and then two from substitute Brandon Bradbury secured the win over Ashton Athletic.
Emley AFC took an early two goal lead at home to Avro in Friday night's tie, Joe Jagger getting both in quick succession around the hour mark.
The visitors, who 48 hours previously had knocked
Albion Sports out of the Emirates FA Cup on penalties, threatened to do the same again to an NCEL side as they fought back to end the game level at 2-2.
But, the Pewits held their nerve in the shoot-out, winning 4-3 on spot kicks to advance to the next stage.
North Ferriby, however, were beaten 7-6 on penalties after a 1-1 draw at
FC St Helens whilst
Bottesford Town lost 8-0 at Charnock Richard and
Swallownest went down 5-0 at home to Vauxhall Motors.
Yorkshire Amateur lost 6-1 to visitors Longridge Town and
Staveley Miners Welfare's participation in this season's competition ended as they were defeated 2-0 at Litherland Remyca.
Five matches, meanwhile, took place in Division One with the leaders' winning start to the season coming to an end after seven games.
Selby Town became the first team to take points off of
Horbury Town with a 1-0 victory at the Fairfax Plant Hire Stadium, Liam Flanagan with the 83rd minute decider for the Robins.
Campion have climbed to third, five points away from the summit, after a 3-1 win at
Harrogate Railway Athletic
Marcus Day's double was added to by Patrick Sykes after the Rail had taken an early lead through Luke Stewart but then had to play with ten man following the dismissal of keeper Joseph Wilton for handball outside the box.
There were two goals for Alfie Dodsworth as
Ollerton Town ran out 4-1 victors at neighbours
Retford FC whilst
Athersley Recreation picked up their first win of the season on Friday night.
Lee Garside grabbed the only goal of the game in the 38th minute in front of the weekend's biggest crowd of 387 as the Rec hosted
Worsbrough Bridge Athletic.
And, it was a point apiece for
Shirebrook Town and their visitors
Beverley Town as the hosts twice came from behind.
Fabian Johnson and Nathan Davies equalised for the Langwith Road side, after Craig Muirhead and Luke Wheeldon had put Beverley in front, to ensure the spoils were shared.
