It was a weekend of few delights in the First Round Proper of the Isuzu FA Vase but four Macron NCEL sides kept their hopes alive in the competition and go into Monday's draw for the next stage.Brigg Town,
Liversedge,
Rossington Main and
Barton Town enjoyed victories in a round where there were twelve ties involving our teams.
Dayle Hutson and Adam Drury were the scorers for Brigg as they won 2-1 at Billingham Town whilst Sedge were triumphant by the same scoreline at Newcastle Benfield.
Finn Donovan and Lewis Barlow found the net for Danny Forrest's men with their winner coming in stoppage time in dramatic fashion.
Rossington progressed by beating visitors and league rivals
Crowle Colts 3-1, Ross Hannah's double for the Premier Division side added to by Jack Watson whilst Lewis Graham found the net for their Division One opponents.
And, Barton played out a tense goalless draw at Whitley Bay before going through 4-3 on penalties.
Tadcaster Albion, however, were one of nine of our teams to exit at this stage as, despite an equaliser from Oliver Norman, the Brewers went out 5-4 on spot kicks after their Friday night match at Redcar Town ended level at 1-1.
There was also shoot-out despair for
Horbury Town and
Campion who drew 1-1 at home to Charnock Richard and at Northwich Victoria, respectively.
Bradley Swain scored for Horbury who lost 4-3 on penalties whilst Shay Muirhead found the net for Campion who were beaten 4-2 on spot kicks.
Eccleshill United went down 2-1 at home to Chadderton, Cole Roberts with their goal, whilst Mackenzie Stocks netted for
Penistone Church as they lost by the same margin to visitors Droylsden, and
Maltby Main were defeated 9-1 at Prestwich Heys.
Harrogate Railway Athletic found themselves on the wrong end of a 3-0 scoreline at Nelson and
Wombwell Town were beaten by a single goal at Winsford United.
In the Premier Division, Nathan Ofori and Adam Stockhill struck in each half as
Beverley Town won 2-0 at
Knaresborough Town, a result that lifts their side up into third.
Sheffield are fourth after a 64th minute decider from Corey Gregory secured a 1-0 victory at
Thackley.
Pickering Town drop out of the top five after their 5-1 loss at
Bottesford Town, Jack McMenemy with four of the Poachers' goals in a much-needed victory in their bid to escape from the bottom two.
And,
Golcar United also got three vital points to climb up to sixteenth as a George Doyle hat-trick, added to a Takunda Katsere own goal and one each for Zachary Rushworth and Rico Kilbourn, saw them canter to a 6-0 home win over
Frickley Athletic.
Dearne & District's lead at the top of Division One has grown to six points after a narrow 3-2 away win at
Ilkley Town.
Jay Harris put the hosts ahead but Dearne were in front by the interval thanks to a brace from Jamie Austin and then they added a third through Justin Circuit early in the second period before Joseph Edmonds halved the deficit with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining.
Worsbrough Bridge Athletic are up into second after Keelan Grist, Owen Birks and Connor Glavin, the latter an injury-time penalty, secured a 3-0 win over visitors
Appleby Frodingham.
Leeds UFCA were 3-2 victors at
Wakefield AFC in a top five clash that moves them to within three points of their hosts who stay in fourth.
Ashley Flynn and Tom Hinton were the scorers for Wakefield whilst Omar Sanyang's double and a spot kick from Jaydan Sandhu grabbed the points for Stephen Grimes' side.
Thomas Joynt's early penalty was the only goal of the game as
Armthorpe Welfare won 1-0 at home to
Louth Town to move them up to sixth, above
Club Thorne Colliery who drew 1-1 at home to
Selby Town.
Ethan Harris broke the deadlock for Thorne in the sixth minute but the Robins took a point away with them thanks to a leveller from Charlie Petch with, ironically, six minutes remaining.
Winterton Rangers picked up three big points as the bottom two met at the MKM Stadium, Max Hudson and Oliver Baldwin with the goals to move them four points clear of
Glasshoughton Welfare in a 2-1 win that had seen Daniel Hickey's penalty open the scoring for the away side.
James Woodhouse struck twice for
Athersley Recreation as they won 3-2 at home to
South Leeds with Akram Lasalire doing likewise for the visitors.
And, Benjamin Dyer's penalty was added to by Jack McKay and Harry McCudden in
Doncaster City's 3-1 victory at
Nostell Miners Welfare whilst
Goole AFC's home clash with
Route One Rovers ended goalless.
