Whittington Grabs 50th Goal for Parras

22nd December, 2013

Worksop Parramore forward Lee Whittington struck six times in Saturday's 8-0 home win over Glasshoughton Welfare to take his tally for the club to over fifty goals.

He joined the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division in the 2012/13 season from Maltby Main where he enjoyed a fantastic start to the campaign, grabbing nineteen goals quickly before suffering a broken cheekbone and eye socket against Pickering Town.

The club rallied around Lee and he was itching to get back to scoring ways not long after but his doctor had to hold him back for a while. However, once he returned, Whittington repaid the club with a further seven goals that season, taking his tally to 26, although he never quite got back to 100% fitness as the campaign was coming to a close.

This season under new management, Whittington was one of the few players that remained at the club. His value known to all at the club already but, with a new manager, he needed to prove that he could fit into the style that Russ Eagle wanted. An early niggling injury kept him out of the team for a few weeks at the start but he scored a few from the bench and worked his way into the team. Since then, he's been a revelation equalling his tally from last season already.

The 50th goal came with his fourth goal of the game against Glasshoughton and was a penalty. Lee was aware it was a milestone moment so the pressure was greater.

Whittington said of his 50th goal: "I feel proud. It's a great achievement. I love scoring goals but winning is the most important thing for us and I always play for the team. We just need to keep chipping away at it and I'm sure we'll be challenging come the end of the season."

A spokesperson from the club said: "Lee Whittington has been a great servant to the club and all the staff from the manager, chairman, secretaries and coaches, etc... would like to congratulate him on his 50th goal. We expect the 100th next season!"

Parras Add Two More to Squad

9th July, 2013

Worksop Parramore have made two further signings as they intensify their bid to win the NCEL Premier Division title this season.

Ex-Scunthorpe United centre-back James Cotterill and former Sheffield United midfielder Jordan Eagers are the latest new faces to join the club under boss Russ Eagle.

Cotterill joins the Parras from Evo-Stik League club Ossett Town and is regarded as a "statement" signing by Russ Eagle.

The 30-year-old said after signing on the dotted line: "I've joined Parramore FC as they are a progressive up and coming club, and I believe they have fantastic ambition which I wanted to be part of."

He added: "Parramore are a club that many people are starting to take notice of and hopefully we can become the team to beat."

Cotterill, who previously has also played for Barrow, Worksop Town and Guiseley, is expected to make his Amber Parras debut in next Saturday's friendly against the world's oldest club and neighbours Sheffield at Sandy Lane, which is a 3pm kick off.

A very happy chairman Pete Whitehead said of Cotterill's signing: "The signing of Cotts is a clear indication of our ambition as a club, I'm delighted that he has bought into our vision and wants to be part of what's happening here at Parramore. He is a player with extensive Football League and top level Non-League experience and was wanted by many clubs higher up the pyramid, but he saw our ambition and wanted the challenge. He's hungry and ticks every box we want in a player. what a signing!!!!"

Eagle commented: "Cotts is Cotts... everything I want in player is in Cotts, I'm so pleased to bring such quality and experience into the club, there's a real spring in his step and he can't wait to pull on the amber and black shirt."

24-year-old Eagers is an extremely talented goal scoring midfielder who also had a spell playing in the top division in Finland with IFK Marirehamn.

The Amber Parras Club Development Manager, Steve Holmes, said: "In Jordan we have a technically gifted player who is a match winner, he has so much ability and his brief will be simple?..express yourself! He has great pedigree and will be a great creative addition to Russ' squad, again another real coup for us as we look forward to the season kick-off."

He added: "It's a really exciting time both on and off the pitch and with the quality additions we have made we're hoping to catch the imagination of the Sheffield and Worksop public. We have great ambition and will be launching our season ticket packages later this week which will, I'm sure, offer real value matched with top quality football."

The former Staveley Miners Welfare and Sheffield player Eagers said of his move to Sandy Lane: "I joined to hopefully mount a challenge for promotion; I have a few friends already at the club such as Steve Hernandez. There's lots of positivity and quality around the club and it was an easy decision to decide to be part of it."

Eagle added: "Eagers is a class act, whom I have admired since his time at Sheffield United, he is so creative and will cause the opposition all sorts of problems, I'm really looking forward to seeing him in full flow. He's the type of player that excites supporters."

Patterson Signs for Parras

5th July, 2013

Worksop Parramore have announced the capture of Danny Patterson who has signed from Evo-Stik League side Ossett Town.

Patterson successfully captained Handsworth to an NCEL league and cup double two seasons ago then made the switch to Ossett Town where he quickly established himself as a firm favourite with his excellent displays last season.

Parras Manager, Russ Eagle, and Club Development Manager, Steve Holmes, made Patterson one of their key summer targets and, with the excellent backing from Chairman Pete Whitehead, secured the signature of one of non-league's hottest properties.

Holmes said today: "Securing Danny was vital to our evolution as a club. It states our intentions for this season and beyond, and I'm so pleased that Danny has seen the potential of this club and that he turned down many clubs higher up the pyramid to join us here at Sandy Lane.

"Ossett really didn't want to lose such a talent but, in the end, the lure of reacquainting himself with Russ matched with Pete's ambitious plans, Danny came home!"

Eagle who immediately installed Patterson as his captain said: "Danny is a winner, a captain, and the kingpin of my plans. I'm so pleased Danny will be leading out the Amber & Blacks next year, he's an ambitious player who wants to progress. Parramore can and will match his ambitions."

Chairman Pete Whitehead said of the Patterson capture: "Danny was one of Russ's major targets and I'm so pleased Danny has bought into my vision and plans for the club, and to sign an established Evo-Stik player of Danny's calibre clearly shows our intentions."

29 year old Midfielder Patterson , who has previously played for Ossett Town, Handsworth, Parkgate, Thackley, Hallam and Maltby joined up with his new teammates and said of his move: "I Joined Parras because I was very impressed with Pete's vision for the club and where they want to be and how ambitious the club is as a whole. Also, linking up with Russ was a big factor - he knows how to win leagues and make teams successful."

He added: "I think this coming season will be a long one but, with the existing squad we have and also the impressive new signings that we have made, we should be aiming for challenging for the league title and achieving promotion to the Evo-Stik. It won't be easy as it's a very tough league as everyone knows, but we have the players so it's up to us really."

Six Follow Eagle to Parras

4th July, 2013

Worksop Parramore manager Russ Eagle has today confirmed the capture of six players who have followed him to the club from his previous side, NCEL Premier Division rivals Parkgate.

And, the Parras say he is still in negotiations with a couple of targets who were with him at the Steelmen.

Energetic midfielder Luke Fletcher, a long time target of Parramore, is joined by strike pair Sam Smith and Jamie Smith, midfielder Lee Hill, utility player Ryan Johnson and promising youngster Ash Linacre.

Eagle said: "In Luke Fletcher we have secured a top quality midfielder whom we fought off advances from many clubs higher up the pyramid. He will be a great addition to our midfield area. With regards to Sam Smith, he is a prolific young striker who I have immense belief in and was the NCEL Division One leading scorer two seasons ago whilst Jamie Smith has all the qualities to play at whatever level he wants and is looking as fit as I've ever seen him. The capture of these two will really hot up the completion for places in the striker department.

"Ryan Johnson is an experienced player who I have had at every NCEL club I've been at. He's Mr Dependable and is a born winner. Lee Hill is a great character who will be great for the club, both on and off the pitch, and again has that all important passion and will to win whilst, in Ash Linacre, we have a young man who will gain vital experience especially with the one club set-up we have with Handsworth."

Eagle added: "It's vital we have a squad that can compete at the top of division for sixty games. We will have 46 league games and three, maybe four, cup competitions. The squad I'm assembling will have all the attributes and depth with the aim of maintaining our promotion challenge for eight months."

3rd July, 2013

Worksop Parramore's new boss Russ Eagle expressed his delight this week at confirming the players that have agreed to another year at the NCEL Premier Division club.

"The start made by the whole squad in our pre-season sessions has been fantastic.

"The support that the chairman, Pete Whitehead, has given me from day one has been unbelievable and my aim is to build a squad that is able to keep up and exceed Pete's ambitions!"

Eagle confirmed that ten of last year's hugely impressive squad have put pen to paper and committed to another year at Sandy Lane - Steve Hernandez, Lee Thompson, Richard Tootle, Chris Fawcus, Andy Dawson, Daz Winters, Matt Thorpe, Lee Whittington, Scott Bates and Callum Ward.
