Herrick takes permanent charge of Poachers

6th May, 2025

Bottesford Town have announced that Leigh Herrick has been appointed as the club's first team manager for the next two years.

He initially took over from Mike Thompson, who resigned in January, until the end of the season and has now seen his time in the dugout extended by the Poachers.

Chairman Howard Pirie shared his and the whole club’s delight at the appointment of Herrick on social media, saying: "I have worked with Leigh under Mike and now by himself at the end of last season, his commitment and endeavour to make this football club the best it can be is unquestionable.

"He has a hunger and desire and his longevity with the club speaks volumes, he will bring his own philosophy on making a cohesive unit and he doesn’t suffer fools gladly, and his grittiness and determination are what I want in a leader of the group."

Herrick added: "I am proud and honoured to be appointed as the manager of this football club.

"It’s a privilege to take on the responsibility of leading a team with such passion, history, and potential.

"I am fully committed to building a strong, united squad that reflects the values of the club both on and off the pitch.

"My focus will be on creating a competitive and hard working environment where every player can develop and contribute to our shared goals.

"I look forward to working closely with the players, staff, and committee as we strive for success together."
