Sheffield bolstered their play-off ambitions with two wins in the Macron NCEL Premier Division whilst Dearne & District are one victory away from the Division One title after results went their way in midweek.Playing on Tuesday and Thursday to catch up on the number of games played by their promotion rivals, Sheffield battled to a 3-2 home win on
Horbury Town before cantering to a 6-0 victory over visitors and second-placed
Beverley Town 6-0 48 hours later.
Ryan Cook gave them a dramatic win in the first game, netting in the 88th minute after they had let a two-goal lead slip, Jacob Hanson and Samuel Awty with the goals for Horbury after Luke Mangham and Danny Edwards had scored for the hosts.
Things were much more straightforward against Beverley as an Alexander Hardwick hat-trick, added to by a Connor Cutts double and a Harrison Poulter strike, puts their side firmly in the top five.
Barton Town keep their promotion hopes very much alive in third as they won 3-0 at
Golcar United, Henry Moore, Lewis Stephens and Matthew Stafford with the goals for the Swans.
And,
Tadcaster Albion have climbed into the top five after their 3-0 victory at
Parkgate, Oliver Green's brace after an opener from Ryan Qualter giving the Brewers the win that moves them above
Campion who drew 2-2 at home to relegation-threatened
Rossington Main.
Ben Grech-Brooksbank and Shay Muirhead twice put them ahead but their visitors showed battling spirit to level on both occasions, firstly through Oliver Nowak and then with a Cody Prior penalty, and Main are now three points from safety.
Handsworth and
Pickering Town both won to still have a chance of finishing in the top five if they enjoy a late surge, Mitchell Dunne and Jordan Hines finding the net in a 2-1 win at basement side
Wombwell Town whose relegation place was confirmed with the defeat, Charlie Rogerson with their goal.
Pickering picked up a 2-0 home win over
Eccleshill United, Souleymane Coulibaly and George Brown scoring for the Pikes who are nine points away from the top five but have a couple of games in hand.
In Division One, Dearne are on the verge of lifting the title after
Worsbrough Bridge Athletic's 3-2 loss at
Route One Rovers, a win that boosts the home side's promotion chase.
Reece Thompson struck twice for the hosts and Zak Khan also got on the scoresheet whilst Keelan Grist and Benjamin Pike did likewise for the Briggers.
Worsbrough stay fourth whilst Rovers are now just four points behind fifth-placed
Brigg Town in what is set to be a fascinating race for a play-off spot.
Leeds UFCA also keep their challenge up as they won 3-1 at home to
Harrogate Railway Athletic who are third, an Omar Sanyang double added to by a Jaydan Sandhu penalty whilst an Adam Jones own goal in injury time gave a little cheer for the Rail.
Jacob Robinson's injury-time winner ensures
Club Thorne Colliery remain in the hunt too, a 2-1 win at
Maltby Main moving them to nine points away from fifth with three games in hand.
Athersley Recreation have boosted their survival hopes, Keenan Davies-Mosley's spot kick securing them a 1-0 home win over
Crowle Colts and they are now six points clear of danger.
Nathaniel Muenda struck twice and there was one each for Daniel Davison, Caden McGrath, Maximillian Bauer and Jake Morrison as
Selby Town beat visitors
Doncaster City 6-0.
It was the first of two midweek games for Doncaster who drew 2-2 at home to
South Leeds in Thursday night's other match.
Brandon Burke and Joshua Moore got the hosts' goals whilst Harley Blankley converted a penalty and Khamis Jacob also found the net for the visitors, all in the opening half.
And, it was a point apiece between
Armthorpe Welfare and
Appleby Frodingham with Abdulrahman Alghamdi breaking the deadlock for the away side before Bayley Lowe's equaliser for Welfare.
Meanwhile,
Louth Town were unable to cause an upset in the Final of the Lincolnshire Senior Trophy as they went down 2-0 to Grantham Town at Boston United's Jakemans Community Stadium.
