Following the pattern set by the year so far, bad weather once again disrupted the Macron NCEL fixtures schedule at the weekend with only nine matches going ahead. But, many of the sides chasing promotion picked up precious wins to further bolster their chances.
Premier Division leaders
Liversedge were 4-1 home victors over
Penistone Church to maintain their eight-point advantage at the summit ahead of
Beverley Town who beat their visitors
Horbury Town by a single goal.
Finn Donovan, Alexander Wollerton, Antony Brown and George Green scored for Sedge who surged into a three-goal lead by the 33rd minute whilst Nathan Keightley's second-half penalty was the only thing to cheer for Church.
Meanwhile, Luka Suluburic netted for Beverley as they picked up the win to keep themselves in the race for the title whilst taking a big step closer to securing at least a play-off place.
There was disappointment for two of the other sides in the top five, however, as
Handsworth and
Barton Town both stumbled in their race for promotion.
Joshua Nodder converted a late penalty for the Ambers but they went down 2-1 at home to
Frickley Athletic who leapt five places in the table to tenth thanks to goals from Joel Spencer and Charlie Clegg.
And, Thomas Waudby put Barton ahead early on in Friday night's game at
Pickering Town but Souleymane Coulibaly pounced either side of half-time to give the hosts a 2-1 win that moves them to within four points of the fifth-placed Swans.
The top three in Division One were all victorious with
Dearne & District winning their home clash with
South Leeds 3-1, Justin Circuit, Adam Baskerville and James Austin on their scoresheet whilst Kieran Haigh grabbed an injury-time consolation for the visitors.
Dearne's lead at the top remains nine points as second-placed
Wakefield AFC beat
Crowle Colts 3-2 on Friday night, Bolton Makwedza, Akeel Francis and Thomas Hinton putting them firmly in control by half-time.
But, the visitors gave them a scare in the last twenty minutes as Joe Simpson and Thomas Moulds netted to put their side back to within a goal of their hosts but they could not find a leveller as time ran out.
Keelan Grist, Lewis O'Connor and Benjamin Pike were the scorers for
Worsbrough Bridge Athletic who beat
Selby Town 3-2 at the Totally Training Stadium.
The Briggers stay third, thirteen points off the summit but extending the cushion they have in the play-off zone to seventeen, whilst Selby, whose goals came from Harry Clapham, remain in twelfth.
Fifth-placed
Brigg Town were beaten 3-1 at
Ilkley Town as goals in the last five minutes from Lewin Storton and Luke Baldwin, his second of the afternoon, gave the home side a big win in their battle to avoid relegation.
Ilkley move up to seventeenth, now nine points clear of danger, whilst Brigg keep a twelve-point gap between themselves and the side just outside the play-off zone,
Leeds UFCA.
And,
Armthorpe Welfare replace
Route One Rovers in eighth spot having beaten them 3-1 at Myra Shay.
Alfie Charlotte and Regan Fish gave them a two-goal advantage by the break but the game was not truly wrapped up until the 89th minute when Ryan Ellison grabbed their third before Zak Khan struck for the hosts in injury time, his 56th goal of the campaign.
