Macron NCEL 2025/26 Match Review #54

12th February, 2026

Three sides looking for vital points to move themselves further away from the relegation zone were boosted by big wins in the midweek Macron NCEL action that went ahead despite the continuing bad weather.

Both Golcar United and Horbury Town were 4-0 victors to climb to six points and four points clear of danger, respectively.

Ashley Flynn, Kallum Reid and Oliver Russon gave Golcar a comfortable 3-0 lead by the break at home to Eccleshill United before Alfie Wilkinson grabbed their fourth towards the start of the second period.

And, it was an identical story for Horbury at Barton Town as a Joseph Angell brace and a goal from Emmaisa Nzondo put them in full control before the interval against the Swans who were reduced to ten men in the 28th minute with Thomas Waudby's dismissal.

Samuel Awty concluded the scoring in the 82nd minute and Horbury are now seventeenth, a place behind Golcar.

Meanwhile, in Division One, Appleby Frodingham are now ten points above the drop zone after their 4-3 home victory over South Leeds.

Nathan Jarman, Joshua Fraiwald and Ben Kirk also had them 3-0 up by half-time before Jamal Stewart opened the visitors' account in the 50th minute.

Joseph Booth restored the home side's three-goal advantage but Leeds almost staged a late comeback as a second from Stewart and a Harley Blankley strike had them back to one goal adrift as the game went into the final ten minutes.

But, App-Frod held on to take the points that lift them to sixteenth whilst their opponents stay fifteenth.

Meanwhile, in County Cup action, Beverley Town bounced back from conceding an early goal to go through to the Semi-Finals of the East Riding Senior Cup as they beat visitors Sculcoates Amateurs on penalties.

Luka Suluburic drew them back level in the tenth minute and it stayed 1-1 until the shoot-out that Beverley won 5-3 to claim their place in the last four.

And, in Wednesday night's game, Route One Rovers are through to the Final of the West Riding County Cup as Zak Khan netted all their goals to take his season's tally to 55.

They won 4-1 at home to Knaresborough Town with William Lenehan getting what was an equaliser for the visitors.
