Macron NCEL 2025/26 Match Review #49

21st January, 2026

Leeds UFCA have closed the gap to the Macron NCEL Division One play-offs to six points after their 4-1 win at Ilkley Town in midweek.

William Horkin and Omar Sanyang gave Stephen Grimes' side a 2-0 lead by the seventeenth minute before Jack Mason halved the deficit for the hosts midway through the opening period.

But, Sanyang's second in first-half stoppage time restored that two goal advantage for the visitors and Toby Stennett made sure of their victory with their fourth with twelve minutes remaining.

UFCA move up to sixth and have two games in hand of Brigg Town who are the side they are chasing in the play-off zone whilst Ilkley stay sixteenth.

Elsewhere, Tuesday's action focused on County Cup ties with an all-NCEL encounter in the Quarter-Finals of the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup.

Myron Gibbons and Oliver Nowak earned Rossington Main a 2-1 win at Sheffield, their goals sandwiching a Connor Cutts strike for the hosts with the winner coming three minutes from time.

At the same stage in the West Riding County Cup, Knaresborough Town pulled off an upset as they went through at the expense of Pitching In Northern Premier League visitors Garforth Town, winning 5-3 in a penalty shoot-out after a tight encounter ended goalless.

The other two ties were all-NCEL affairs with Golcar United reaching the last four with a 3-1 victory at Route One Rovers, Alfie Wilkinson, Ashley Flynn and Will Morrisey with their goals before Anees Younis pulled one back for the hosts.

And, Oliver Green ensured Tadcaster Albion booked their place in the Semi-Finals as his 37th minute decider saw them triumph 1-0 at home to Harrogate Railway Athletic.
