Liversedge prevailed in a seven-goal thriller at Rossington Main in midweek to move four points clear at the top of the Macron NCEL Premier Division.Lewis Barlow, Kalen Swales and George Green netted in the opening period to give Sedge a 3-2 lead by the interval with goals from Paul Sherburn and Mitchell Langton for the home side making it an intriguing contest.
Finn Donovan added a fourth for the visitors midway through the second half before Dylan Mantle reduced the deficit once more for Rossington going into the last five minutes.
But, Sedge held out to take the victory, a 4-3 scoreline in their favour moving them further away from closest rivals Tadcaster Albion.
The defeat for Rossington, meanwhile, drops them into the bottom two as
Bottesford Town's 3-2 win at basement side
Horbury Town lifted the Poachers up into sixteenth.
Okera Simmonds' first half double was added to in the second period by Jaxon Borland for Bottesford whilst the hosts' goals came courtesy of James Cusworth and Regan Waite.
And, two late penalties from George Doyle grabbed an important 3-1 home win for
Golcar United against
Wombwell Town that moves them to four points clear of the relegation places.
In Division One,
Worsbrough Bridge Athletic and
Harrogate Railway Athletic were both victorious to close the gap on leaders Dearne & District.
Connor Glavin struck twice from the penalty spot and Keelan Grist also netted a double as Worsbrough came from 2-0 down at
Goole AFC to win 4-2 and move to within three points of Dearne in second place.
Haydn Ward and Ify Ofeogbu had given the hosting Vikings the perfect start but they ultimately tasted a defeat that keeps them in fourteenth.
Meanwhile, Harris Eggleston and Joseph Navier were the scorers for the Rail as they stay a further point behind in third having beaten hosts
Nostell Miners Welfare 2-1, Charlie Austerfield with an injury time consolation for the home side.
Henry Cook gave
Crowle Colts a twelfth minute lead but Liam Hardy levelled halfway through the second half and Adam Watson scored a late winner for
Maltby Main who go above their visitors into eighth with a 2-1 victory.
And, it was honours even between hosts
Winterton Rangers and
Ilkley Town, Kevin Gonzalez breaking the deadlock for the away side before the points were shared courtesy of a Tom Pindar penalty on 68 minutes.
In County Cup action, Arlo Hughes-Coubrough's hat-trick helped
Sheffield to a 5-0 win over South Elmsall United Services in the Second Round of the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup with Nathan Whitehead and Bradley Beaston also getting on the scoresheet.
Samuel Scrivens struck twice for
Penistone Church as they dispatched Silkstone United 4-1, adding to an earlier own goal whilst Kieran Ryan wrapped up the scoring for them.
And, there were three all-NCEL ties in the First Round of the West Riding County Cup with
Knaresborough Town,
Selby Town and
Wakefield AFC all beating league rivals.
Luke Stewart and Aaron White scored for Knaresborough as they defeated
Campion 2-1 and there was one each for Harry Clapham, Charlie Petch, Troy Greening, Daniel Davison and Liam Love as Selby comfortably beat visitors
Glasshoughton Welfare 5-0.
Meanwhile, Kenneth Effah's 78th minute winner saw Wakefield through 2-1 at home to
Eccleshill United after Oli Robinson's early opener had been cancelled out by Zackary Sangster for the Eagles.
