NCEL Premier Division leaders Penistone Church have now suffered back-to-back defeats after a midweek loss at Thackley that saw the hosts climb to third, three points off the summit.Church had been given a first half lead by Leon Hurles-Brook but the hosts turned the game around in the second period with Ben Grech-Brooksbank's equaliser added to by an Antony Brown brace to make it 3-1 to the Dennyboys.
Hurles-Brook's second of the evening halved the deficit for Penistone but they could not find a third as they went down 3-2.
Albion Sports are up to second, also three points off the top, following their 3-1 victory at
Parkgate, Dominic Staunton, Eisa Faulding and Nathan Cartman with the Lions' goals whilst Liam Tomlinson netted what was an equaliser for the Steelmen.
A further point behind in fourth are now
Golcar United who, thanks to a 76th minute strike from Keegan Hartley, beat visitors
Eccleshill United by a single goal.
A dramatic 2-1 win for
Handsworth sees them up into sixth after their victory at home to
Frickley Athletic.
Scott Ruthven had given the hosting Ambers a fourteenth minute lead and that held until stoppage time when Jack Cawthorn had seemingly rescued a point for the away side but Ruthven then pounced with his second of the evening to claim the win for his side.
Winterton Rangers have moved out of the bottom two after Oakley Hill's early strike secured a 1-0 home victory over
Beverley Town.
Four goals were shared between
Hallam and their visitors
Barton Town with Brodie Litchfield putting the hosts in front and Thomas Waudby levelling in the first half.
Then, in another game that proved breathtaking in injury time, Rio Allan gave the Countrymen the lead once more before Grant Tait salvaged a 2-2 draw for the visitors with virtually the last kick of the game.
And, Omar Sanyang's spot kick put
Pickering Town ahead but Mason Wilson's strike pegged them back as they drew 1-1 at hosts
Tadcaster Albion.
In Division One, leaders
Horbury Town maintained top spot as they won 2-0 at home to
Brigg Town, James Cusworth and Jock Curran netting in the middle of each half to claim the victory.
Dearne & District rise to second, three points behind the leaders, courtesy of a 1-0 win at
Glasshoughton Welfare with Luke Skelton grabbing a first half injury time winner.
2-1 victories for
Maltby Main and
Athersley Recreation see them fourth and fifth, respectively, Alex Washington's opener for Main cancelled out by Kadey Phillips before an own goal secured them the win over visitors
Appleby Frodingham.
And, despite a goal back by
Ilkley Town's Alfie Dean, the Rec were successful on their travels with earlier strikes from Nathan Perks and Carter Tingle.
South Leeds climb to eighth as they had half a dozen different scorers in their 6-3 win over hosts
Swallownest, Ryan McKendry, Benjamin Agu, William Law, Mohammad Sadiq, James Law and Tyler Bussue finding the net for the visitors.
Liam O'Brien, Alex Wonham and Spenser Sheppard were on the scoresheet for Swallownest in a game that saw a roller-coaster first half that ended 3-3 before the visitors took control in the second period.
Louth Town and
Wakefield AFC were both 3-1 home victors, a Bailey Wright double helping Louth to a win over
Armthorpe Welfare whilst Akeel Francis did the same in Wakefield's match against
Shelley.
Meanwhile, Connor Glavin struck twice for
Worsbrough Bridge Athletic as they put some daylight between themselves and the bottom two with a 4-2 home win against
Nostell Miners Welfare.
Two Division One games were abandoned with
Wombwell Town's match at home to
Selby Town called off after 78 minutes due to a serious injury to the home side's Cian Guest and all at the NCEL wish him well for a speedy recovery.
And, floodlight failure saw
Harrogate Railway Athletic's clash with visitors
Club Thorne Colliery halted at half time.
Heavy rain at the start of the week led to a few postponements with
Rossington Main's Monday night Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup First Round tie with Swinton Athletic called off due to a waterlogged pitch.
A similar fate befell
Goole AFC's home game against
Silsden AFC and
Bottesford Town's trip to
Knaresborough Town in the Premier Division on Tuesday whilst, on the same night,
Yorkshire Amateur's match with visitors
Dronfield Town also fell victim to the weather in Division One.
