Former NCEL match official takes charge of Women's FA Cup Final

1st June, 2026

The Macron NCEL sends its congratulations to one of our former match officials, Melissa Burgin, after she took charge of Sunday's Adobe Women's FA Cup Final.

The Sheffield-born and raised official led a seven-person strong team for the game at Wembley Stadium connected by EE where Manchester City claimed the double with a 4-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion.

Melissa, who was previously an assistant referee at the Women's FA Cup Final in 2021, officiated in a number of games in our league and has worked her way through the women's football levels in recent years to become a regular in the Barclays WSL.

It is a double celebration for the NCEL as another of our former officials, Darren England, was the referee for the men's Emirates FA Cup Final last month in which Manchester City were once again victorious, this time 1-0 winners over Chelsea.
