Whittington joins Parkgate coaching staff
21st January, 2018
Parkgate striker Lee Whittington has taken on a player-coach role as the club battles for Toolstation NCEL Premier Division survival.
The frontman, who had previously been in the league at Handsworth Parramore and Staveley Miners Welfare, joined the Green Lane club earlier this month as new boss Billy Fox looks to guide the Steelmen out of the bottom two of the table.
Whittington takes over from Oliver Ryan who has had to stand down as coach with Fox telling the club's website that Ryan's "work commitments have made the coaching role here almost impossible for him, so this is a sensible move for both parties."
He added: "We’d like to thank Ollie for his contribution here at Parkgate, and wish him well for the future."
