Askern Villa's pre-season friendly schedule will begin with a test against a full-strength Championship side.Sean O'Driscoll will be bringing his entire Doncaster Rovers squad - including any new signings on board at the time - to Manor Way on July 7th.
Askern secretary Dave Hall is delighted, telling the
Doncaster Star: "We have only been in the Northern Counties East League for two years and we've spent a lot of money in that time on the ground to meet the criteria."
"We've been scrimping and saving during that time so obviously it is a big boost to be playing Rovers. It will help give us financial stability for next season.
"I think in terms of capacity you are looking at around 1,500, but I would imagine that the police will get involved.
"It would be nice to see the ground packed and I am sure that there will be a lot of Rovers fans there on the night, especially if the club make a couple of big signings."
Hall also hopes the game can raise Askern Villa's profile and get more people through the gate.
"I've been going around the town putting leaflets through letter boxes to let people know that we are there," he said.
"We do need to increase our attendances - I think most Doncaster-area clubs at our level would say the same.
"The highest crowd we've had recently around the 400 mark when we played Scarborough Athletic.
"But our average gate last season was around the 43 mark."
