Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2022/23 #58

12th March, 2023

The weekend's Toolstation NCEL fixtures were badly affected by snow and freezing conditions as only four games survived the weather.

North Ferriby were rewarded for their success in getting the only match on in the Premier Division as the leaders won 2-1 at home to neighbours Barton Town.

Daniel East's 42nd minute penalty gave them a lead by the interval and they had to wait until Danny Earl's goal on 86 for them to breathe a little more easily.

Nathan Jarman converted a spot kick for the Swans to halve the deficit in injury time but the Villagers took the victory that extends their lead at the top of the table to ten points.

In Division One, Rossington Main were 3-1 home winners over Dronfield Town as they continue their chase for promotion.

Mark Fereday had put the away side in front on 26 minutes but the match turned on its head in the second half as Declan Slater levelled soon after the break and Jack Watson made sure of the three points with two goals in the final five minutes.

Main move up to second and, like leaders Campion and third-placed Harrogate Railway Athletic, have confirmed at least a play-off place in the race to Step 5.

Retford FC keep up their hopes of joining them in the play-offs as Alex Wonham's opener, added to by a Liam Bennett brace, ensured a 3-0 home win over Swallownest.

Retford are eighth in the table whilst their visitors remain in the relegation zone, two points away from safety.

And, Selby Town climb to tenth after they defeated Staveley Miners Welfare 4-0 at the Fairfax Plant Hire Stadium.

Liam Flanagan, Connor Qualter and Harry Clapham had the hosting Robins in control by half-time with a fourth added by Kyle Fish on 81 minutes.

Staveley remain fifth but it was confirmed in the week that, following their voluntary resignation from the Premier Division last season, they will not be able to take part in this year's play-offs and should they end the campaign in the top five then their play-off place will go to the side that finishes sixth.
