27th March, 2016
Handsworth Parramore took advantage of a draw between two of the chasing pack on Saturday to stretch their lead at the top of the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division to four points.
They won 3-1 at relegation-threatened Parkgate, Gareth Griffiths opening the scoring for them on 43 minutes before Ben Thornton restored parity in first half stoppage time but a Jon Froggatt penalty and a Kieran Wells strike ensured the victory after the interval.
Meanwhile, there were no goals in the clash at the i2i Stadium between second-placed Tadcaster Albion and third-placed Cleethorpes Town whilst Bridlington Town lost ground in fourth with a 3-1 loss at Pontefract Collieries.
Mark Whitehouse struck twice in the opening period for the Colls before Aaron Joseph added a third on 54 minutes and Joel Sutton got a late consolation for the Seasiders who are now eight points behind Handsworth.
There was also a brace for Andre Johnson for Worksop Town who tighten their grip on fifth following a 2-1 home win over sixth-placed Pickering Town.
In the increasingly tight battle to avoid the drop, Liversedge moved off the bottom of the table for the first time since Boxing Day as a Timmy Raheem double helped them to a 3-1 victory at home to Rainworth Miners Welfare.
They are replaced in the basement by Nostell Miners Welfare who went down 2-1 at Armthorpe Welfare, Ryan Donoghue netting for them late on after Mathew Semley and Craig Aspinall had given the hosts a comfortable lead by the interval.
Pontefract moved out of the relegation zone as a result of their victory, climbing three places above Brigg Town who are now below the dotted line after a 2-1 loss at home to Retford United, Parkgate and Athersley Recreation who drew 2-2 at home with Thackley.
Maltby Main came from two goals down with Joshua Nodder striking twice to take a point from Clipstone and Staveley Miners Welfare won 2-1 at home to Garforth Town.
The top three sides in Division One all won with Hemsworth Miners Welfare maintaining an eleven point lead at the summit with a 4-0 home victory over Rossington Main, a Nash Connolly hat-trick edging them closer to the title.
Ryan Williams netted for second-placed AFC Mansfield in a 1-0 win at Knaresborough Town and Bottesford Town stay two points further behind in third spot with an identical victory at Westella VIP, Terry Barwick with their goal.
AFC Emley stay fourth after a 1-1 draw at Grimsby Borough whilst Hallam beat Hull United, 1-0, and Shirebrook Town are still sixth despite a 2-0 loss at Eccleshill United, courtesy of early goals from Brett Catley and Mark Trueman.
But, Penistone Church have closed the gap with Shirebrook to three points after their 1-0 win at Winterton Rangers kept them in seventh, Lewis Dickinson with the vital strike after 70 minutes.
Worsbrough Bridge Athletic looked to be on the way to a much-needed victory in their survival bid as they were two goals ahead at Selby Town through Lee Garside and Brad Kerr but Chris Jackson netted twice to share the spoils and leave Worsbrough six points away from safety but with seven games left to play.
And, in the rest of the day's action, Tom Bennett struck on 83 minutes to claim Hall Road Rangers a 3-2 win at Dronfield Town whilst Glasshoughton Welfare came away from Teversal with a 2-0 victory, courtesy of goals from Josh Morley and Ryan Poskitt.
