Ex-NCEL Refs In Major Final

20th May, 2010

The KoolSport Northern Counties East League are delighted to learn that two of its former Referees have been appointed to the UEFA Champions League Final between Inter Milan and Bayern Munich.

Howard Webb of Rotherham is appointed as Referee with Martin Atkinson of Leeds as Fourth Official/Reserve Referee.

Both Howard and Martin started their senior refereeing career with the NCE and the League can feel rightly proud of their achievements and wish both sincere congratulations on their appointments and the best of luck in the game.

League Chairman David Morrall said: "The Northern Counties East League has always enjoyed the reputation and accolade of being the most successful league in providing the foundation for the development of national and international match officials over the last 25 years with its comprehensive match officials assessment scheme.

"And, these developments enhance this reputation even further and I am delighted, along with many other people involved with refereeing within the NCE, at Howard's and Martin's appointments and achievements and we wish them well in this prestigious appointment."
